Gets the job done, but requires patience [Posted on 2006-11-18]
I travel and exercise a lot, so I needed headphones that could go from the gym bag to the carry on-bag without tangling. These are one of the only retractable sets on the market that feature workout-friendly ear hooks. They produce good sound and stay on your ears while jogging. My only complaint is that the retractable cord spring mechanism requires some patience. It sometimes fails to lock in the extended position, and sometimes unevenly spools the cord when retracting (leaving you with a bunch of unretracted cord). But usually it works okay, the headphones store easily, and the price is good. I'd recommend these as backup, travel, or workout headphones.

I purchased these as I love the ear-hook clip on type of headphones for the gym and wanted a pair that had a retractable cord. As soon as I took them out of the package the ear clip broke. Less than 5 seconds and I had a useless product. I'm back to using my Panasonic Ear Clip headphones with the regular cord. I won't buy Phillips again.
Poor Construction [Posted on 2008-02-23]
Broke in just a few weeks. The design is flawed. The cored that goes into the earpiece is not secured adequately and after repeated pulling (you have to do to extend the cord and retract it) it give out and you loose one earphone. Also the earpiece that the earbud is connected to is weakly constructed and is loose. I did not know this but I had bought the exact same design from CompUSA branded by Emerge. It broke the same way. This earbud should be taken off the market.
