Not worth the money, no matter how low the price. [Posted on 2008-06-11] I'm no audiophile. I wanted a pair of comfortable earphones to replace those awful Apple ear buds so I could listen to netcasts on my iPhone. I read the reviews on these earphones and figured at such a low price and with my low audio standards, I couldn't go wrong.
Well, I can go wrong if the product doesn't even work. Sure I can hear through the earphones, but the sound quality is so poor, I couldn't even make out speaking voices. The microphone worked for half of one five minute phone call. I was ordering delivery food and had to unplug the headset to finish my order because by the end, the guy at the restaurant was unable to understand me. After that, the microphone stopped working as a way to answer calls or to pick up my voice.
The lanyard style is really ridiculous, too, with the microphone dangling somewhere below my chest even when I wore them correctly. I'm not that short, either. Anyway, even if you don't care about anything other than comfort, these earphones are a complete waste of money.
Great for a month... exactly... [Posted on 2008-06-17] This is a great product... for exactly a month. i read the reviews that said that it would break and one of the ear buds would not work anymore. i figured that i am extreamly careful with all of my stuff, and this would not happen to me... wrong!!
i have had two sets of these and both of them broke just about a month after having them. both left ear buds just stopped working.
They sounded great b4 that... but who wants something with a major flaw?
dont waste your money... you worked hard for it.
GREAT iPhone Headset on ANY Budget! [Posted on 2008-06-22] I ordered these to replace my lost iPhone earbuds about 5 months ago. I realized then how crummy the standard issue headset is out of the box from Apple. I cannot recommend this set enough. I'm really surprised at the one and two star reviews, as I had an obviously radically different experience.
I use these while riding my bike and the material coated cord is very sturdy and the sound quality is absolutely perfect. I did not have the same experience the other reviewer(s) had of the cord material causing any interference when being rubbed against. The microphone and its button worked and sounded adequately even with the wind from fast bike riding.
It took a minute to get used to the lanyard concept, but its a terrific idea that keeps your earbuds anchored close to you in case the fall out of your ears.
I'm writing this review now because I'm about to order my second set of Rivet headphones after misplacing my first. I see the price has dropped from when I originally purchased them, from $19.95 to now $14.95 and all in all these are just about the best iPhone earphones available. If you have $100 to spend on V-Moda go right ahead, but I think its a waste of money unless you have been cursed with superhuman auditory powers that can discern those subtle differences only an oscilloscope can detect. Otherwise, Rivet is your brand.
Shoddy construction [Posted on 2008-06-22] I've already gone through two pairs of these and I don't think I will go for a third. The first pair died on the first day I wore them, when I stepped on the right earbud. My second pair lasted a little longer, but I had the same problem as many others - something went loose near the plug connector which caused the right earbud to stop working completely.
I like the lanyard design which positions the microphone in a good location when worn correctly, and the button is easily findable and pushable. But the sound quality of the earphones (when they work at all) is not great and the earbuds are a little uncomfortable when compared to the V-Modas.
Rivet Stereo Earphones... do not purchase [Posted on 2008-06-24]
I bought these, and was very excited. They seemed like a high quality item. They have a nylon mesh cable common on earphones 6x their reasonable price. The problem with that nylon is its very loud (unless you are completely still) and makes a lot of extra noise. My earphones broke after 2 weeks, I've tried contacting the company numerous times and never received any contact in response. Do not purchase these.
