Great value! [Posted on 2008-05-03] I have a really nice home theater system in my home, but you just can't use the equipment at night when others are trying to sleep. We had some really nice (about $80) headphones by Sony, but our new puppy confused them with his chew toys and they are no longer an option. With so many different products to choose from, it was hard to decide and my reluctance to spend a lot of money right now led me to try these. (After all, for $20 I can always keep them as backup headphones.)
I bought 2 pair for myself and my son and I tried them out with an adventure movie (lots of variance of range in music and sound effects) last night. The sound was certainly clear enough. It does not contain the "Surround Sound" I would like, but what do I want for twenty bucks?
The fit was tight as has been noted in previous reviews, but not overbearing. The ear cups fit securely over my ears and actually caused them to sweat as time went by, but when you order "closed" headphones, you should expect that.
The extra long cable is a nice feature as is the simple take-up system which comes with it. There are 2 jacks in the package for different size plugin's. All in all, a simple price for simple product. It does what it says and you can depend on them for the "average Joe" type uses.
Good sound with EQ processing [Posted on 2008-05-07] These headphones have ALOT of bass response. If you listen to them with something without any tone adjustments, like an equalizer for example, don't expect flat, uncolored response. Now if you do add some tonal adjustments to them via an equalizer (cutting some low and lower mid frequencies) they are very respectable sounding. They are also very efficient, basic onboard computer output easily drives them. For the money, they are a decent value. I personally would have liked a less bass boosted response from the factory, but with adjustments they are fine. Comfort is very similiar to other closed type headphones I have experienced over the years; they need to be moved slightly around after wearing for awhile or they tend to get uncomfortable. All in all they are pretty decent for this price range.
best quality and value [Posted on 2008-05-07] Just received the product today to replace my logitech premium headset that becomes mono-sound now. The best thing this sennheiser has is the ear covers from both left and right which reduce any outside noises you may experience during the play. SOund quality and loudness are very good. Compared to logitech, paying a little bit more for this product is worth it.
Great Headphones - little DIY needed with the ear cups [Posted on 2008-05-07] Bought my first one 4 years back and one again 2 years back. Infact I bought both of the them when the prices were around $20-22.
No headphones at this price range come even close with sound quality. One thing I didn't like is the ear cups, my ears kind of get stuck inside everytime.
To rectify that, I cut two oval shaped pieces of black sponge, covered with them headphone earcup covers from the many cheap ones lying about (esp airline ones) and stuffed that black sponge into the ear cups.
You will not believe the comfort and it reduces the volume a little bit which works for me.
Perfect headphones for an aiplane [Posted on 2008-05-08] These are great for taking on a plane, or traveling in general. They are not as compact as earbuds, but still portable enough for most travelers. The quality of the sound for the price is great. I was surprised by the bass coming out of these.
