Hear, There and Everywhere [Posted on 2007-10-08] Just bought these at my local Apple Store and they are just wonderful. Hated the Bose buds. Loved my B&O buds that I accidentally threw out with the Sunday Times. Great for the price. These are perfect for people like me who just can't comfortably insert earphones into their narrow canals. Overall sound is lush...though you do have to wiggle them around to find just the optimum sound. But they are so snug fitting! I've always loved Sennheiser cans and the company remains consistent in terms of quality. Can you do better? Sure...for double the money. And then something else will just come around. For the street I can't imagine anything better. A hearty endorsement!
Great Cans for a Good Price [Posted on 2008-04-29] I am very happy with these earbuds. I really like the Sennheiser twist to fit system. They take a little getting used to, but are very comfortable and secure. I also like the inline volume control. The case is much better than the folding cloth case of previous models. The sound is great for a pair of earbuds. I am not an audiophile, but I am a musician with a good ear. These buds make the most of the sound you are going to get from a portable device playing mp3's. My only wish would be for a clip to secure the cord to my shirt so it is not flopping around so much while I am exercising. Overall, I am a very happy customer.
No cigar!!! [Posted on 2008-05-30] I am a Sennheiser believer (religiously so). I have several of their headsets and they are as good today as when I purchased them - some more than 40 years ago. The MX-90-VC dissapointed me. The directions explaining all the rubber, foamy, gasket thingees they give you a bag of are AWOL. You have to figure this out for yourself and the skimpy picture on the multi-language packing cardboard (so everyone, including Martians, can be as confused as I) are of no value. Let me say that I am in the business and have purchased thousands of headsets, earphones, etc. in my career. These don't seem to "sit" well in the ear canal no matter which thingee you try. When you press them in with both index fingers - they sound great; good top and even decent bottom sound. However, everyone will think you have a continuing migraine if you do this. So, sadly, I returned them to the bubble wrap. I don't believe in returning small items. And who knows; I may run into a Martian who can decipher the instructions and enlighten me on the use of these Earphones.
Ya'll Crazy! [Posted on 2008-06-20] Listen up sennheiser: you should not put your high-end brand name on cheap headphones! You are diluting your own trademark.
First, I think the twist-to-fit design does work well. That's why I gave it 2 instead of 1 stars.
But the sound quality does not deliver. They are not loud enough to overcome ambient noise when in a vehicle. The shielding looks cheap. And regardless of what your specs say, frequency response is flat at best.
But you sure did get fancy with the packaging! It takes ten minutes to wrestle the headphones out of the box, which is as complicated as an origami crab. And it comes with an ugly, useless carrying case.
What a shame!
