Sleek Protection! [Posted on 2007-12-19] I was skeptical about this case. I used a Belkin leather flip-cover for my previous iPods, and found that they were the best protection, especially for a fall. I decided to give it a try based on the review, and was very pleased with it. Aside from looking very sleek and stylish, I think this tops my Belkin cases in every respect.
The front and back are both clear plastic, with a hole in the front leaving the touch wheel exposed. There are holes in the top for the hold button and for your earphone jack, and one in the bottom for the USB cable. This means that the screen is completely covered, while allowing you to watch it and have access to the menu.
Rubber around the sides of the case gives great protection in case of impact-- I've found that sides and corners will do the most damage in a fall, and the cushioning on this case is IDEAL. Snap the latches on the side into place, and you won't have to remove your iPod from its case ever again, unless maybe for a dock. The latches are firm without being impossible to slide into place, and seem unlikely to accidentally slide open. I don't trust the belt clip, but I have never trusted belt clips.
The only additional item I would recommend would be a full-length plastic sheet to cover the wheel. (PDA screen protectors have worked well for me.) I haven't dropped my iPod in it, and am not going to tempt fate by doing so just to test this case. However, I am very pleased with the design-- looks good AND makes me feel confident about carrying my iPod and keeping it safe.
Good protection, plastic parts [Posted on 2008-01-21] I had this case for my 60 and 80-gig ipods, and enjoyed it. The belt clip was one of the reasons for getting it, as it puts the ipod in a convenient location for reaching the controls. The dual lock mechanisms move in opposite directions, so there's less chance of the case falling open accidentally.
The parts are all made of plastic, so eventually they're going to suffer from fatigue. First to go was the belt clip itself - it is removable from the case, and finally gave up the ghost when I was reattaching it. Next was one of the locks, so right now I only have one holding it closed. I have had the case for over a year and a half, so it has actually performed quite well, and that's why I'm going to get another one for the ipod classic.
However, I will not be ordering it from Amazon (from their 3rd party retailer, that is). More than eight dollars for shipping a 6-ounce case (although the product page lists both one pound and three pounds)? That sounds a lot like the eBay trick of jacking up the shipping costs so that you don't have to pay the host (Amazon) as large a percentage of the selling price. I'd advise Amazon to take a closer look at "PricePiggie".
Well designed case provides great protection for iPod Classic [Posted on 2008-02-27] Well designed case provides great protection for iPod Classic. It fits the Classic very nicely. Excellent!
Great case! [Posted on 2008-06-13] Looked for a nice, protective case for my new iPod. Found this one after reading reviews. It's perfect. In fact, my husband wants one of his own to replace his case which he recently purchased!
Overall it's a great case! [Posted on 2008-06-16] I dont want to make an overly wordy review, but the case is great. Very sturdy, clean design that doesnt detract from the look of the ipod. I've had just about every type of case imaginable for my ipods and this one tops them all.
The downside is that the clear plastic is very susceptible to scratches and the belt clip is a bit difficult to use.
