Customer Reviews:

Overrated when compared to the competition [Posted on 2008-05-24]
I bought these and compared them against the Ultimate Ear's Super.fi.3's ($75), V-moda Vibe's ($65) and Sony MDR EX85's ($50). When compared against the ipod stock earbud's the Shure SE110's are excellent. However, check these out against the above in-ear competitors in the same price range and they finished a dissapointing 3rd, beating out the Sony's only. The Ultimate ear's and V-moda Vibe's were much stronger on bass and clarity. It was shocking how flat the SE110's were compared to the others (yes I had them inserted correctly with a great fit). I kept wanting to like the Shure's better, based on their reputation, but just couldn't. They are comfortable and seemed to be well built.

I have heard that some of the top tier Shure products are awesome. However, for the sub $100 price range, these are simply overrated.

still addicted to Bose [Posted on 2008-05-24]
These are probably a good idea for people with ears the size of midgets, but not for me. I understand they clearly are billed as "sound isolating", but after owning several pairs of Bose noise-cancelling sets, I can't quite figure out what the isolation angle is. They feel uncomfortable even after trying to shape the thing between my fingers to fit in my ears. And unless you hold your hands against your head, the effect is still like hearing what you're listening to from afar. Not a good buy as far as I am concerned.

The Build Quality Is Worth It [Posted on 2008-05-31]
The main reason I would recommend these over the competition is the quality and the design. Compared to the competition from Ultimate Ears and Sony the sound is similar, give and take some personal preference, but when it comes to quality and design the Shures win hands down. The best aspect of the design is that a 1/3 of way down the cable plugs into an extension. This means if the wire gets damaged by the jack you can buy another extension, instead of buying a whole new set of headphones. Seeing as the wire by the jack on all of my headphones has broken, this is invaluable to me.

If heavy bass is your main concern, I would skip these, as the bass response is flat. I'm a bass player, and it's fine for me, but it may not please some.

Wish I could have purchased these. [Posted on 2008-06-04]
I wish I could have purchased these. Unfortunately I chose to go with the best price and that was with Barney's Electric. I was notified they shipped and was excited because I was going to fly to California. However they never shipped as they were out of stock. I was not notified until just before I left. Since I have read bad reviews about Barney's. Amazon should not deal with this company. I will not buy by best price and in the future I will order from Amazon.

Sounds good - That's about it [Posted on 2008-06-18]
I bought these as a replacement for my E2C's that I absolutely loved. Unfortunately this was a case where a manufacturer's replacement product is no where near as good as what it replaced. To start, the sound appears slightly flatter than the E2C's. Better or equal mid range but lacking a little in the lows and missing completely in the highs. The split cord may appeal to some but I find the short length completely unusable and always opt for the extension. The fit in the ears is generally the same with several different methods/sizes included. Like the E2C's, the SE110's require that you loop the wire over the top of the ear and slide a clip behind your head to hold them in place. This worked great before but the clip on these is way to loose to do any good at holding in place. After about 10 steps the clip slides down and has absolutely no use.

I definately will not buy another pair of these and would suggest if you are considering them that you try to get a pair of the old discontinued E2C's before they all disappear.
