While I did buy these, it was a gift and in turn I was awarded with an hour of listening time. So my review is not based upon long-term use. As well, I am not an audiophile and probably wouldn't win a hearing contest, but have played and been around music my entire life.
If you want a good balance of frequencies, the SE310 would fit the bill. I have owned a variety of headphones over the years, and have 2 Bose sets (over and in) that are the most I have paid until now. Both Bose sets are heavy on the bass, and not much treble or mid. By contrast, the Shure SE310 offer a completely different sound. I heard frequencies and tones that I haven't heard before. It was impressive.
My only knock was that I thought the bass response was a little low (with the equalizer off), but it wouldn't have stopped me from getting a pair - I opted to nab a pair of SE530 instead. The 310 was my second choice. The last item (and is mentioned in nearly every review) is to ensure that a good seal is formed with the ear canal. I have worn ear plugs for years, so it wasn't a big deal. But it took my buddy a while to get the hang of it.

It's like ear plugs that play music. The sound quality is very good and the ear buds come with 3 styles of plugs. Triple flange plastic ear plugs. Foam compression in four sizes. Rubber bulb style ear plugs in three sizes. Overall, I would say they're great for air planes and stuff where there is a lot of back ground noise, but if you're in a subway or working out, you're probably better off with some other kind that you could still hear a little through, because they are very effective at blocking background noise.

Ordered in Maastricht (Netherlands, EU) and received within 3 weeks on the first day of the estimated day of receiving the item.
Sound quality of the headphones are good, but lack a bit in bass-response, especially in electronic music like trance, house, techno and dance and hip-hop. All other sounds are great, like guitars, piano, violins and voices.
Worth the 200 dollar.

Sound quality is truly impressive and that's all that matters. My only gripe is that cord is too short for any meaningful use. There is extension cord supplied but then it becomes too long and starts to tangle.

First let me say that I bought these because I was in idiot and carelessly destroyed my other pair of Shure headphones. But, I will come back to that.
I spent a little more than I wanted to. I knew from previous experience that Shure products were fabulous. And I was not disappointed. I don't make a move without my Shure headphones. I would be horrified to find myself at the airport without them. I won't get into all the technical reasons they are superior. I will just say that they are without peer.
Back to me first pair. They got destroyed through my own carelessness. 100% my fault. I took a chance and sent them to the Shure repair center with a copy of the receipt, and a copy of the receipt for my new pair that I bought on Amazon. 7 days later a brand new pair showed up with a zero charge invoice. Now, that is a company that I will come back to again and again. THANK YOU Shure!!
My advice, buy the most expensive pair you can without getting yourself in fiscal trouble. You will not be dispointed.
