Customer Reviews:

love these plugs [Posted on 2008-03-15]
these earphones can really make the world go away; at least for a little while. I love the sound quality and have heard instruments in songs that I didn't know were there.I am very used to wearing earplugs so getting used to these was easy. I would say you may have to experiment with the earphone to get it to fit just right if you're not used to earplugs. If you want to hear your surroundings along with your music you may not care for these. The only thing you hear (when properly placed in the ear)is music.

Mediocre [Posted on 2008-03-28]
While these headphones created colorful highs and nuanced midrange, I'm utterly disappointed with their lack of bass response. These headphones cost over $200 and they can't even recreate bass equivalent (let alone better than) to the ~$50 Sonys they were bought to replace. I suggest you try before you buy. I know not everybody likes bass as much as I do; I admit I like it deep. But for a $300 MSRP, these should be much better all-around performers to include a better bass response and wider dynamic range. (I even got a rattle when I pressed these to their (low) limit--one I would never get from the cheaper Sonys. (MDR-EX71)

It saves to be a skeptic [Posted on 2008-04-08]
I bought these headphones thinking you just can't put a price on sound. After receiving these Shure 310 headphones in the mail, I was impressed with the case, number of different ear buds to best fit and conform to your ear, and the instructional booklet which made me think these were the real deal. Sadly, these put out as much sound as my Sony and Bose headphones did. Minus the bass which was superior in both my Sony ($50.00) and my Bose ($90.00). These are probably the ugliest earbuds I've ever worn as well. You go to the gym wearing these and you'll most definately feel like a fool. They stick out rather ridiculously.
I wish now in hindsight I would have gone for the Klipsch brand, as my buddy has a pair of those and swears by them. Just make sure if you do decide to buy these, look around for the cheaper price. Most dealers have a list price of $249.00, while I at least was able to score these at $169.00. Even so, this is much too high of a price to pay for ugly, slightly above average earbuds. As for these reviewers who awarded this product 5 stars...I imagine they must have upgraded from the standard ipod earbuds.

Outstanding (although pricey) [Posted on 2008-04-09]
If you can get a good deal on these, you should go for it. I replaced my defunct Etymotics ER-6s with these, and I couldn't have made a better choice. Great bass response, clarity all around. Comfortable fit and good accessories.

The headphones are good, the cords broke down [Posted on 2008-05-02]
Within 9 months of using them in mixed weather, e.g. cycling and hiking in winter conditions the cords on these headphones started to crack ultimately ruining the headphones.

The headphones themselves are good and I'm considering getting new ones, but the cords themselves can't be directly exposed to bad weather over a prolonged period or they'll crack and peel off.
