FULL SPECTRUM SOUND [Posted on 2008-03-26] I purchased these earbuds as a replacement for my ipod earphones and was ultimately pleased with my purchase. First off they are allot of differences between these earbuds which are IN-EAR earbuds and the kind that come with an ipod (earphones). They have a soft silicone bud that creates a seal in your ear. This seal has more to do with the sound you get out of these earbuds. The bass frequencies you can hear are incredible and the overall volume of the music is louder. You will have to turn your music down a little bit to compensate for the extra volume. These earbuds also block out most external sound which is great if you listen to music in noisy places like a bus or busy stores. Even with the music off it drops the ambient sound level down significantly.
There are some disadvantages to this style of in-ear bud, but these aren't exclusive to the skullcandy fmj's. Any vibration that travels to the earbuds will be amplified and audible. For example: If you are jogging or walking down the street you will hear low bass vibrations of your steps, also if it is very windy outside you will hear the wind blowing against your ears.
The overall design of the earbuds is really nice, the jack, volume control, and the earbuds are all made out of a metal (I think aluminum). The cord is a nice length, long enough to reach to your pockets or even around to a backpack. The cord is also made with a different plastic that feels kind of sticky which is cool because the cord will stay where you want it to be. The overall package is really nice because you get a small case, 3 different sized silicone ear tips, two stickers, and a stencil.
The most important thing when talking about earbuds is the sound, and these sound really good. They have bass for days, which isn't a problem because you can e.q. them to sound how ever you want. You can't fix headphones with no bass.
I have only had these a few days so I can't comment on the reliability, but they have a lifetime replacement warranty and you can't ask for more than that. These earbuds are definitely worth the money. If you love bass in your music and want to hear the full spectrum sound of your music I would recommend buying the skullcandy FMJ.
Great product with flaws [Posted on 2008-04-06] These headphones look great and sound great. Until the cord drags against your jacket's zipper. That creates some distortion in the sound , which is a bummer. I'd hate to have to wrap the cord in electrical tape just to remove a design flaw.
Otherwise, the headphones are fantastic!

Not worth the $$$ [Posted on 2008-04-13] saw all the hyped-up reviews, went down to target and bought a pair. got home, unpacked, plugged it into my stereo, fired up a tune -- BAM!!! these earphones suck like a turbo charged air intake system! the highs got chopped (pardon) got butchered by these earphones. overall frequency balance is so drenched and capsized into the low end bass frequencies you gotta EQ the wazoo outta it 2 get a song to sound somewhat decent. BIG disappointment. dunno what all the hype is about. image picking up some mud and putting that into your ear...well that's the best analogy i can think of. the very saturated boomy low frequencies took away all the high spark, clarity, and detail that all you're left with is .... well mud. invest your $$$ and buy something else. anything but this. oh god no!
not so good [Posted on 2008-05-29] I think some other reviews have covered how these ear buds really distort an audio signal. It's cool to have the booming low end, but the clarity of high frequencies is significantly affected. My ears have adjusted to the quality of the "full-metal jackets," but it took some time. The real problem with these is that being metal, they are great conductors of static electricity. If you've never been static-shocked inside your ear canal, trust me that it's not very cool. I've found that any sort of consistent (sometimes even slight) rubbing against fabric will cause a static shock in my ear with the "full-metal jackets." They really aren't worth the frustration, and I think I'm going to contact the company about what seems to be a pretty serious design flaw.
I love them. [Posted on 2008-06-11] I listen to very bassy and dynamic electronic music all day everyday.
I love these. They are miles beyond the crappy ipod phones.
They are not mega-hi-fi but they are decent, reasonably priced, durable phones with a great warranty for the price.
I have not had any distortion issues.
And BASS IS GOOD PPL!! The problem with older cheap headphones was the total lack of bass!!!! THANK GOODNESS for better technology!!
I don't wear these constantly, i just use them when i am mowing the lawn and such, which they are amazing for.
Metal is Gooooooood.
