Customer Reviews:

Started falling apart after only a few months. [Posted on 2006-12-12]
This case has it's good and bad points. I bought this particular one for two reasons, because I wanted a sturdier than normal case for all the traveling I do and I wanted something that didn't look like everyone else's case. It looks a lot nicer than the standard black nylon/canvas (think Case Logic) and I even had someone ask me if it was a laptop (really!) After two or three months of use the exterior "steel" is still pretty new looking with very little scratching or dulling of the finish. The plastic interior is lined with a black velvety type material (glued in) and it has ten double side pages with 4 slots per page. At first it held up really well, then around 1 1/2 months I noticed one side of the "steel" coming loose. It's simply glued to the plastic interior. As the case filled up (as they do all too quickly!) the separation became worse and now it's on both sides. I don't have all the CD booklets and inserts in the case, but I like to at least have the inserts from the back cover of the CD jewel case so I can have a track listing. Apparently even that is too much for this 'slim' case. It may hold up better if you don't plan to use every page, but then what's the purpose of having that many pages? It might have held up better if it wasn't just glued together. Though I will probably just glue the outer cover back on when it falls off, which I expect it to do any day now. It's a nice idea, looks good, but just doesn't hold up very well, not as sturdy as it looks.

Car wreak waiting to happen [Posted on 2007-01-09]
The idea is good and the looked is great. However the latching mech is extremely hard to open with two hands let alone one. I can't imagine getting a CD out of this thing while driving.

Good idea, poor execution... [Posted on 2007-02-18]
I purchased this product because I wanted a slimish case with a hard shell to protect my important discs. Similar to the experience of the second reviewer, "J.Alberty", my case arrived with one side of the thin metallic veneer separated from the plastic shell and the other side partially so. A quick inspection of the inside revealed that the metallic veneer is only held to the plastic shell by double back tape. Instead of going through the hassle of returning this product I think I'll simply reattach the metallic veneer with a better quality adhesive since it seems likely that a replacement product will have the same shortcoming. This should be a wake up call to the manufacturer to use a better adhesive for the metallic veneer and step up on the QA. I'd be embarrassed to let my product out of the door like this when the fix would be so simple to do.

Excellent storage [Posted on 2007-09-21]
Unlike the other reviewers, I have had a very positive experience with this product. The outside case looks good and is strong, the pages have stayed intact and are easy to manage. It might be because I primarily use this case to store my CDs at home (much easier to store than all those jewel boxes)and only infrequently take it on the road. So far I have bought four of these (I find it easier to have many small ones than one large container) and love them.

Well-made & Attractive Case Overall [Posted on 2008-04-07]
I now own three of these cases. I use two to store DVDs at home out of reach of the kids and one to store CDs in the car. The cases seem to resist dropping well. The locking latches stay closed and protect my discs. The discs do not get scratched when they are bumped against the rims upon removal of discs from the case. I find this to be a great improvement over the zippered cases and some other brands of hard-sided latching cases. I have had no problem using my passenger-side hand to grab and unlock the case while driving. The two in-house cases have suffered no separation of the metal over-case from the plastic case underneath. However, my car case has had two bouts of metal coming loose from plastic around the edges, and I have re-glued it twice in a year around the edges. This did not cause much bother. Overall, I am very satisfied with the cases. I will probably buy more to store my DVD collection in as it grows. The case would benefit from a small, collapsible lunch-box-style handle. The larger case made by Atlantic has a handle, but is seems to only be available in one colour, dark blue.
