This is a nice little player for those odd novel disks that come in MP3 format.

Battery Hog [Posted on 2007-05-13]
I'm pretty happy with this product so far. It took a little bit for me to get the hang of the volume control mechanism. It only takes one AA battery, but you'll go through them like water.

It Gets Knocked Down and Gets Up Again! [Posted on 2007-07-12]
When imagining me with this piece of equipment, you really have to understand that I go through a minimum of 2 good Discmans a year when I'm on a roll. I ask a lot of them: they have to be able to take a beating, they have to be able to support a variety of functions - including a remote -, and they have to be able to jack into whatever earbuds I need them to because I hate standard models. I also need them to be skipless (notice I didn't write in skip protected or some other catchy jingle), to play anything I put in music-wise, and to be able to be dropped from a height of at least ten feet and not take it personally.
And this lil Sony - it does that well and then some.

One of the things I like about this model is its capacity to run for DAYS on a sole battery. I've actually had a Panasonic in it (yes, it takes one battery) for three days now, it playing an average of eight hours a day, and it still shows full power. This is a normal thing, too, and that really surprised me. A pack of normal batteries lasts no less than two weeks, and sometimes they would last longer if not for being left on repeat. Another thing I like about it is the way the controls are set on the unit, making them functional and easy to operate without being looked at. If you take a nice long look at the pictures provided you'll see that it has a nice, sleek appeal to it and this sleek appeal isn't just a robust hint of flavor with a little taste of goodness for all that moxy. The model actually has a nice set-up with regard to easy functions, is designed with the volume selection set on the play button for maximum effect, and it has the stop button on the body so you don't accidentally make the mistake of killing it in the middle of something important. The same can be said of the search button and the mode button - they are located in odd places but you adjust to them quickly. The remote is likewise as a utility, too - it has the normal stuff you expect and it is really rugged when you get down to it.
That really makes me happy.

I've seen some complaints about the sound that the device omits and understand what is being said, but I blame that mostly on the beastly little earbuds it comes with. That can be fixed for a few dollars, though, so it isn't really much of a quandry and is something I would probably do even if it sounde dlike angels pouting in the clouds. It also is limited in the menu option, allowing only for a few types of sound that you expect on the economy flight, giving you the norm for discmans now. Also available but annoyingly not included is a wall charging option that allows for one battery to become a fortress unto itself and to keep powering the device upward and onward. Unfortunately this device doesn't come with the set-up and isn't something you find hanging around your local stores - with a reason I'm guessing to be a really long lifespan. I had a Sony with one of those once, it charging batteries day after day, and my battery life went up to eight months. So, if you can get the extra adaptor, go for it.

All in all, this little beauty is a tough model, can really take its beating, and sounds really good. I've had mine for three months now and it has yet to skip - even discs I thought wouldn't play found some way to work in this device. Combine that with the price and you have a one battery mechanism with a remote, a will to live, and a want to deliver whatever tasty sounds happen to come your way.
I highly recommend it and then some, knowing how much work I ask for it.

I love my atrac [Posted on 2007-09-01]
These days, having a discman is near old-fashioned with all of the Ipods and the like. Call em what you want to, but I love my discman. This one has a simple design and functions, it doesn't skip on me, even when I exercise. It plays all my home burned cd mixes without a problem. I love it.

Great product [Posted on 2007-12-28]
Like this product very much, easy to use, only problem is I notice the cds skip easily when player is moved, otherwise I would highly recommend this Sony product. Great product great price
