Great little DVD player! [Posted on 2008-09-07] We are extremely pleased with the Sony DVD player. It is a great little DVD player-we are using it in the master bedroom and it is a very sleek looking player with all the features we need for a spare DVD. The price was certainly a great feature!!
GOOD UNIT, POORLY DESIGNED/MADE REMOTE [Posted on 2008-09-08] Yes the ability of this unit to read/play imperfect discs is better than most, but the design, programing and functioning of the remote is poor at best. To start, the buttons on the unit are too small and are in the wrong/less than convenient positioning. The keys function slowly/poorly. The actual programming is reqiures too many steps to effect desired actions such as slow play requires hitting of pause then then slow rather than just pressing slow key to effect desired reduced speed. The .6 slow play is unique and liked.
It works fine [Posted on 2008-10-10] This unit works fine and is a snap to set up. It has the ability to start in the middle of a program. I would recommend it highly
A very reliable item at a great price! [Posted on 2008-11-23] A large proportion of my viewing these days involves discs of my own creation. Unfortunately my older generation Sony DVD player was either unable to read those discs at all or the discs would freeze at some point and then refuse to be played further.
Considering that my older player had cost much more than this newer one I was fearful that I might be wasting my money; nevertheless, I did like the fact that it had the ability to play mp3s and jpeg files, which my older unit did not, so I decided to take a chance.
Setting up the unit was a breeze. After two months of use, I can honestly say that I have never had a single disc rejected as being unplayable or even had one freeze during play. Unlike what I have read from some other reviewers I don't think that the unit takes too long to perform an initial read of a disc. I simply insert a disc and usually by the time that I have walked back to the couch and gotten comfortable, it is ready to play.
All in all, I would say that I am very pleased with this unit and the price for a "name" brand is hard to beat!
DVD Player is great! [Posted on 2008-11-30] This unit does everything it states and was excellent right out of the box. Easy to use remote makes it all the better. I highly recommed.
