Customer Reviews:

Overall Great Pair of Earbuds even without NC [Posted on 2008-04-21]
I bought a pair of these for my recent trip to Europe. I acutally bought two pairs. ( one for daughter)

I have to say, I was really impressed by overall sound quality of the earbuds even without the NC feature turned on. I had taken my V-Moda Vibes with me to use in quiet settings, but I found myself not using them because these sounded great.

After reading several reveiws, I didn't expect a lot more functionality on the plane, but I was wrong. I was on an Air France Flight to Paris, and was pleasantly surprised how well the NC functions worked using their IN FLight Entertainment System. I also tested using my SONY MP3 player, and got very good results too.

I saw a couple of people using the BOSE NC systems, but I can't imagine having to pack and keep up with something that bulky an big. The Bose units are almost 3-4 times the price of these earbuds, and I can't imagine that they sound that much better.

I also tested these units on the Eurostar ( Train) from London to Paris, and the NC features worked just as well.

One additional test on the plane and train, and bus was to just use the earbuds with no audio at all, but just turn on the NC feature. The ambient noise dropped significantly, more so than just using ear plugs that the airline issues to all passengers.

All in ALL, I think these are very good phones, and the battery life is great for 1 AAA battery. I used one battery and used the phones for over 30 hours on this trip. 20 hours on plane, 5 hours in train, 5 hours on buses, and a couple of hours just general listening while waiting for my tour group to rendevous.

The monitor button feature is also a nice touch because you can push that button and hear the flight attendants or your seatmate when necessary without removing the earbuds from your ears.

I would highly recommend these earphones for any traveler or person that works around constant low level noise.

Very effective [Posted on 2008-05-28]
I purchased these to use while weed eating or lawn mowing and they work nicely for that. External noise is damped well enough for me to hear clearly without blasting out my eardrums. My only difficulty is keeping the plugs in my ears. They tend to fall out at inconvenient times, but this is still a huge improvement over the headphones I was using previously.

Best yet [Posted on 2008-06-05]
This is the forth pair of noise-canceling earphones I've bought and it is by far the best. Because they fit in your ear they shut out more noise than earphones that fit on or over your ear, and they do an amazing job of canceling other noise. Noise canceling doesn't do anything to silence the screaming child in the seat behind you. For that you need noise supression. The best thing for that is the expandable foam earplugs you can buy for a few bucks in most drug stores. Noise-canceling works against steady background sounds like the roar of a jet engine, and is most useful if you only want to block certain things -- like jet noise -- but want to hear others, like the soundtrack to the in-flight movie or the music from your iPod. These headphones are great for the latter purpose. The sound quality is very good, and their ability to cancel loud background sounds is absolutely amazing. Far better than any other headphones I've tried. Plus they are small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. I'll never travel without them again.

don't expect miracles [Posted on 2008-06-14]
I think the sound quality overall is pretty good-better than my other sony earbuds. However, I think the cord is too long and I agree with the other reviewer about the placement of the battery compartment. It makes the apparatus a bit unwieldy. Also, getting the buds to stay in my ears has been problematic. I have tried all three sizes of the foam covers and finally determined the best way to keep them in is to actually ignore sony's designation of left and right. Strange.

works like a charm [Posted on 2008-06-16]
I bought the noise canceling earbuds so that I could watch a movie while I run on the treadmill...between my feet pounding and the treadmill whirling I used to have to turn up the volume on my old earbuds all of the way up...killing my ears. Now I can hear pretty well without turning up the volume! There is that humming noise that everyone talks about but I only notice/hear it when there is no other noise present. Overall good for my purposes and fit in my ears very well without hurting them like some earbuds do.
