This remote does exactly what I expected. Can command all the electronics that I have. Could be little smaller. The learning function is not working very well (it works, but the code that the remote produces is longer than the code from the original remote)

I bought the Sony RM-VL600 after experience a rather high level of frustration with the Harmony. The great thing about the Sony is its ability to 'learn'. Although I got the Harmony to do everything that I needed it was much more complicated than I would have liked. In comparison the Sony was extremely easy to program. More importantly it is much easier to use. It was always a hassle trying to explain to my wife or friends how to work the Harmony. Showing people how to use the Sony is very easy. I highly recommend this remote. For a little under $20 it's a bargain.

Finally, a remote that does ALL that I ask (TV, VCR, DVD/Stereo Receiver Home Theater System). Granted... I already have a Sony TV and Sony VCR... so most pre-sets already work seamlessly for them... BUT this remote improved some menu functions for my TV. I used to have to go through a series 7 keys just to turn on the TV's closed captioning feature... NOW... after programming ONE "macro" key (easily done)... I only need to press ONE key! To turn it off, I programmed another macro key... I also programmed two other macro keys to turn on/off TV's speakers (so I can watch TV programs using home theater system speakers). That saves me from pressing up to 15 keys on my TV's remote.
TV remote functions missing from the universal remote, not a problem! I programmed two "unused" keys on this universal! I used the signal from my TV's remote... point it at the universal remote... and VIOLA!! I have those TV remote functions now on the universal!
The BIG thing for me was finding a universal that would allow me to use my home theater system. I never had luck with that in the past... even though the system IS a Sony also... I could never get a Sony universal remote that would allow me to use the remote with my system. NOW, the universal is NOT pre-set to use with my system. BUT finally, they supply a code that I can use with my system. YEA! And home theater remote functions that are missing from the universal's remote... again... NO PROBLEM!!! You just point the remotes toward each other, tell the universal which unused key to program... and ALL the features you want from your old remotes can be programmed into this new one! I LOVE IT!
The layout is easy to use and directions are easy to follow. Now, if Sony could just make one of these that ALL buttons can light up at night... Then I'd REALLY BE HAPPY!

Does everything you could ask really, and you can't beat the price. Sure, the Logitechs are prettier, but they also have little tiny buttons, and are much more expensive. Yes, I had a couple of temporary issues, like the code for a Yamaha DVD player not being correct, but the instructions are clear on how to work around that. I also found programming functions from another remote quick and easy.

I like this remote almost as much as my Universal Remote mx-500. For the Price you cant beat it and I haven't met a signal that this Remote cant learn it is very easy to use and looks great.
