Just About Perfect [Posted on 2005-05-13] I really have no complaints. It's simple, clean, looks nice. People complain about nothing to cover the screen but I just took the advice from the manufacturer:
"The screen area is left open. If you are concerned about screen scratches, you can simply cut a square of plastic from the package the skin comes with."
This works just fine. Of course it won't protect the screen from a direct blow (what will?), but it prevents scratches.
There's a lanyard, but it's easily removed if you don't want to use it.
ok, but not the most functional [Posted on 2005-08-11] The skin is very durable, protecting it from scratches, but there is no protection for the bottom, the click wheel, and the screen. I left the original plastic protection layer on the click wheel so that helps. The bottom with the external connection port I cut out a part of the skin packaging (very durable plastic) to put there which prevents it from getting dirty and damaged. Same goes for the screen, I cut out the packaging to make up for that. I have the Griffin iTrip and found out quickly it doesn't fit with this skin. So I cut off the top of it (where the strap hangs from) and pull it around the iTrip. It's not the most convenient, but it beats pulling off the entire skin everytime I get in my car. Also the material of the skin likes to stick to pocket lining like glue. Everytime I remove mine from my pocket, it pulls it inside out. Overall, it is very durable and worth the money, but you have to make some inconvenient modifications to fully protect it.
Nothing too special, but serves its purpose [Posted on 2005-09-21] We didn't expect this item to revolutionize the way we us our iPod minis, but it does what it should - protects the unit from getting too beat up. The main things you look for on these is access to ports (which is pretty good, but not great); ability to use your controls (which is fine); protection of the unit - especially the screen - from damage (pretty good). Though the screen isn't fully covered, the added depth of the area around it makes it a bit tougher to damage (the screen isn't flat along the same plane as the rest of the unit, as it would be without this extra "skin" layer).
The biggest negatives in my view are that you cannot use the standard "clip" to attach your iPod to a pocket or belt with this - it has a lanyard attachment instead. The access to ports for connecting accessories isn't perfect, so keep in mind the different attachments you'll want to be connecting and consider how this might get in the way of their connecting. But like I said, it serves the "protection" purpose pretty well, but you shouldn't expect it to be super-special and accomodate everything you may want to do with your iPod.
Great Product [Posted on 2005-10-24] This ipod cover gets the job done, you can still see your ipod's color and yet keep it protected. It has a great rubbery feel that makes you feel safe in the case of mishandling it. The only problem is it is hard to get your chargers plugged in to the bottom...but not a big deal.
cannot use clip [Posted on 2006-02-10] This is ok to cover the ipod mini and avoid scratching but if you are interested in using your clip or armband you have to remove the cover. Mine ripped b/c it is flimsy and I had to peel it off so I could use my clip. Needs a hole in the back for the clip!
