Tight Fit but Weak Clip [Posted on 2007-02-13] I bought this item for my 2nd gen. black Nano. The casing is well made, clear, and fits very well. It is a comfortable tight fit that holds the Nano securely. However, the belt clip component itself is poorly designed and lacks enough force to hold on to a belt or pants. The clip also lacks internal teeth needed for a tighter grip.
Consider buying this item if you want the clear casing to protect your Nano from scratches. Otherwise, if you use the clip, the whole thing is going to fall out and possibly damage both the casing and your Nano.
Fantastic case - best of the four I tried [Posted on 2007-08-21] I tried out four cases (using each for two weeks) before deciding on this one. Speck clearly put in as much thoughfulness on the design as Apple puts into its own products.
First, it is beveled around the click wheel. If you're just investigating cases, you have no idea how important this is. It means that, if you intend to press the Play button, you actually can. On cases without beveling, the plastic forces your finger to hit the center button instead.
Second, you can actually use the Hold button! I don't know why other manufacturers essentially block access to this buttom, but Speck makes it easy to use.
Third, the thin rubber strips on the side of the case make it easy to hold. Again, you don't realize how important this is until you hold a different case and feel how easily it can slip.
Lastly, it's easy to open and close (and the two halves of the case stay connected). I transfer my Nano to a different case when I go to the gym - and use a third-party FM transmitter in the car - so I need to regularly remove it from the case. It's very easy to get in and out.
Speck's done a superb job with this case - I highly recommend it!
Probably Not The Best [Posted on 2007-11-25] I had a full silicon sleeve for my 1st gen nano that was great. This hard case scratches fairly easily, but hey, that's one of the main reasons for purchase (rather scratch the case than the nano). Case doesn't feel as though it closes very securely. Serves its purpose.
iPod clear acrylic case [Posted on 2008-05-12] Overall, I am pleased with this product. It does a good job of protecting the iPod nano and easily clips onto anything (clothing, purse, etc.). The touch wheel is easy to access while it's in the case, and the headphone jack is also easily accessible. I take my iPod in and out of the case almost daily (to use in a speaker system) and the case has held up fine. A few scratches have appeared due to use, but considering the price I am very pleased!
