Couldn't get it to work [Posted on 2006-08-06] Buy a Sound Blaster Audigy. This card wouldn't work after hours of trying. The SB card took two minutes to install.
Adequate performance, dishonest marketing [Posted on 2008-01-25] The card was easy to install and so far seems to work with all applications tested. However, several software titles that are clearly promised on the outside of the box, including "Record Producer LE, Music Write LE, and SoundCheck" are not on the installation disc. This is simply not honest. In the future I'll prefer to do business with a company that delivers what they promise.
Not at all what I thought [Posted on 2008-03-14] I was dumb enough to believe the 24-bit output advertised (there's no real description of the card's ability on the box other than the 5.1 tag) also included 24-bit drivers. They are only 16-bit and not useful for my purposes or recording. In fact, the one application that came with the program that does work (the audio editor) cannot handle my existing 24-bit files.
I'm sorry I bought it even at such a low price.
Also, the other comments about the software missing are correct. Turtle Beach must have fired their quality control people. I would only recommend this card to replace onboard sound systems and only barely.
On the box, it says it's the recipient of hundreds of accolades yet it doesn't list a single one. That should have been a clue.
It sounds no better than my old Soundblaster.
Big Sound for a Small Price [Posted on 2008-06-18] I've used Turtle Beach sound cards for quite some time. Their quality is superb; preferable over comparible Sound Blaster cards. Riviera provides all of the features I'm looking for in Digital Input/Output, as well as superb Legacy support (for older computer applications and games designed for DOS.) Turtle Beach online support has always been very good, as well.
Turtle Beach Audio Card [Posted on 2008-08-09] Received this as an open box item, without documentation or installation CD. Windows XP installed as a Plug & Play item without a problem however as I had installed it in a SHARED PCI slot it had a resource conflict. When I relocated it to a non-shared slot it worked fine. By visiting the Turtle Beach website, I managed to download current audio utilities.
