Table Mat II [Posted on 2008-08-19] This product is awesome! It is exactly what the info commercial says. I personal think the table top is a good size but wouldn't mind seeing a little bigger. I use it for a laptop stand (I have a large laptop) and I could use more room to use a mouse.
perfect for my laptop! [Posted on 2008-09-29] Lightweight but durable, this desk is perfect for using my laptop while sitting on the couch. It's easily adjustable (works like crutches), and slides across carpet smoothly to allow the user to get in and out. It's a tad bit wobbly, but not unsturdy--just a byproduct of the 2 leg rather than 4 leg design. My only complaint is it has a rasied edge like a tray all the way around, which isn't the most comfortable for computer use (tends to cut into the forearm a bit) but I've been able to adjust where I put my laptop so that it is less bothersome.
practical & portable [Posted on 2008-10-03] The Table Mate II is very practical and portable. I am using it for light stuff inside the house and for my laptop when working in the garden.
Serves its purpose [Posted on 2008-10-24] Got one TableMate while I was on bedrest and thus confined to the sofa for much of the day. It doesn't look like much out of the box, but by golly it worked for what I wanted it for. It's adjustable height allowed me to set it to fit over my hugely pregnant belly while I was eating. Then the tilt on the tray part was perfect for me to set my laptop on while setting a USB keyboard on my lap. In fact, it worked so well for computer use that we bought a secod for my husband. It says it holds up to 50 pounds but I wouldn't count on it. I do know it holds at least 15, as both our cats have been seen snoozing on the tray every now and then!
Convenient To Use But The Top Warps Easily [Posted on 2008-11-17] The top is all plastic and even though it's rated to hold up to 50 lbs., you'll notice it sags in the middle with as little as a 7 pound laptop on it (that's what I use it for).
I'd give it 5 stars for convenience if it weren't for this and the fact that the TableMate website has NO contact telephone number - and does NOT respond to e-mails inquiring about a replacement top - it's supposed to have a lifetime warranty against breakage, bending, etc.
Mine has developed a permanent warp to the point that my mouse won't even lay flat. A steel shim molded into the top's perimeter lip would have made for a much more rigid design.
