Receives 21 Digital With a Handful of HD Channels [Posted on 2008-09-08]
We live in the city of Herndon/Reston area of Virginia. There are 21 digital (a few HDTV) and around 10 analog signals that were found during the scan. Interestingly, the first time scan was performed, the antenna only found 1 digital and a few analogs which was done in the daytime. A big difference in the number of channels between the time of scanning. Right after stations were established during the night scan, most of them remained even during the daytime watching. I am satisfied with the result. I suggest to do the initial scanning during nightime when interference may be at a lower level as compared to the daytime office hours.
I am not surprised with some households to experience very poor performance with the antenna. It depends a lot in the location of your home and the placing of the antenna. It is a good idea to purchase the product from a company that has a good return policy or easily accessible if it does not work for you.
Some minor complaints: The size and shape of the antenna. For an indoor antenna, it is big and awkward looking. The base can be made bigger for better stability. The signal amplifier need an LED to know if it is on or not.

First, let me address some of the comments I have already seen.
1-it's true there is no such thing as an 'HDTV' antenna, antennas are signal agnostic as far as analog/digital is concerned.
2-your antenna has to be appropriate for your area. If you live more than 20 miles from the broadcast towers, this probably isn't an appropriate antenna for you. Visit antennaweb to determine which type to buy. I live 12 miles from the broadcast towers and live on a second floor apartment for reference.
That said, this is a great indoor UHF antenna! I was using the little $10 set-top loop antenna with the click knob (which causes as much trouble as it's worth)which worked but I constantly had to play with the loop to improve my signal for each channel.
This antenna doubled my signal strength on all channels, including the one VHF digital station; I didn't even have to extend the VHF dipoles.
Be aware of where you are going to put this, it is about a foot tall and at least 16" long so it's obviously not going to sit on top of your flat panel.
This antenna is a great upgrade to the set-top $10-15 ones.

Inconsistent reception. Has to be adjusted constantly. Is an issue for almost every single channel.

Ever since I gave up cable TV due to higher cost and poor program choices, I've been looking for a better set of 'rabbit ears' to get free over the air broadcasts. I mostly just enjoy and watch PBS and educational programming these days, the rest is just so much posturing and nonsense, not to mention the commercials on most cable channels that do nothing but insult the intelligence of American viewers.
Design issue
If you extend the rabbit ears fully the unit falls over, really stupid (read moronic) design and the engineer(s) that designed it need to go back to school and get a real degree.
I immediately returned it to BestBuy and got another design that does not fall over when trying to actually put the device in standard use.
