Customer Reviews:

happy customer [Posted on 2008-11-16]
After doing some research online about which external hard drive to buy, I chose the Toshiba 320 GB because the price was right. I compared gigs to price with what would fit my Dell the best. It is small- 5 x 4 inches or so, which is nice, and comes with a 12 inch USB cable. The installation was easy and quick. I'm not a huge computer guru, so I wanted something that would be easy to manage. It works great, just what I wanted and for a price I couldn't find anywhere else.

Toshiba External Hard Drive [Posted on 2008-11-17]
The Toshiba External Harddrive is great. I just love it. There are no problems during the order, everything was on time and in the original packing. The Hard Drive looks very fancy and is very small - so you can take it with you wherever you go. There is a program you can install but it's not necessary, it works without it as well!

Does NOT work!!! And Toshiba customer service SUCKS!!! [Posted on 2008-11-24]
I bought the Toshiba 320GB External Hard Drive at the end of the Summer to use with my Powerbook G4. And to this day, I have NOT been able to use it. I have contacted Toshiba's customer service to ask them what to do. First off, they take there sweet time to reply (a week more or less), when their website says that they'll respond in 24 hrs. Then when I did get a hold of them they sent me a USB powered adapter for free (thank you for that), Except, The Harddrive STILL is not registering on my laptop. Then when I tell them that.................Still waiting for a response. Whatever happened to taking care of the customer who dise-out over a $100 for "Good, Reliable" products? Thanks Toshiba for taking the money and running.
My advice is, Tested it out right when you buy it to make sure it works with your computer. I waited too long to test it out on my Mac to return it to Best Buy.
Best of luck with Toshiba and their Customer Service.

Satisfied with this Product [Posted on 2008-11-24]
I just use it for Music, Photo, large graphical images, and large 3D files.

PROS:

+ 320 GB for[...] was a pretty good deal at the time.
+ As far as I can tell it's working great.
+ The size is acceptable, and the shell design is acceptable.
+ Weight comparable to iPod (30 GB)
+ Silent
+ rubber pad strips on bottoom

CONS:

- The BLACK gloss finish makes smudges and prints extremely visible.
- Since I'm pretty anal about it, there are no scratches, but can only
assume that the scratches are easy to make and would be more
pronounced as well
- Not sure if it's an OS thing, or not but I prefer that when the device
is ejected that the tiny blue light turn off as well
- Short Cord (The device will dangle from some Desktops due to USB port
placements and is stored under computer desk compartment).

(4.5 Stars Really)
very minor negative comments so I'll still rate it at it's highest.

great if it worked [Posted on 2008-12-01]
Well afer my WD external NAS drive crashed, i wasnt going to touch that brand again. Toshiba offered a 3 year warrenty on this. That sounded to me like they were convinced it worked. And it was great...for a few months. Then i started randomly "dropping" I thought it was my computer at first because it was having problems, tried it in another and no luck. So i sent it in. After having it in repair for so long that I almost forgot i had it, they sent it back, without its usb cable. hmmm ok, not a huge deal, but curious, so I called them. They dont send the cable back and then sent an email saying the problem is the drive isnt strong enough to be detected by a computer, they were going to send me another cable so that i can plug it into two ports at once, making it detectable. Well, I do have two ports, but they are on opposite ends of my laptop. That will be awkward at best, impossible if the cable they send is as short as the one it comes with. Why would they make a drive without enough power to be detected? So thats two externals out the window? Does anyone make anything reliable anymore?
