Ultimate Ears is the brand of choice for Audiophiles for a reason. These Headphones live up to their name in every way! Sound is crisp and clear at low volumes so you can listen to them in loud environments without even having to crank it up to drown out surrounding noise. But, when you DO decide to turn up your music,you'll notice MORE music; How So?... instruments are more clear,as are vocals. and you'll notice music that you didn't know was there! The bass is perfect if you're not looking for ear-rattling. It's clear and balanced,as are the highs and mids. I Highly recommend the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4s to anyone looking to upgrade. the versatility and style of these In-ear monitors is really great and they look perfect with anything!! These canalbuds are excellent. I was searching for some new earphones to replace the standard Ipod ones for quite awhile. I kept reading review after review trying to decide among many different options. I looked at Shure, UE, V-Moda, and others. I liked the fact that these are not over-the-ear earphones. They also come with multiple sets of rubber ear pieces so I am sure you will be able to fit them into your ears without a problem. While I am no audiophile, the sound is absolutely fantastic to me. Personally, I don't think it gets much better than this. I hope this helps!

Replaced high-end Shure E3 for these as wanted to block external noise mainly during long flights...not only do these earphones block external noise but the tonal quality, bass-treble-loudness, is so very realistic that I am surprised to hear sounds which were previously not there and the Shure phones were actually very good and high-end. Total satisfaction with these.

Unhappy with the fit and sound of my stock IPOD earbuds, I looked extensively for a replacement. Without checking any reviews, I bought a pair of $30 Sony earbuds... what a mistake. Pure garbage. I can't believe they put their name on them. I used them for no more than 20 sec and returned them to Circuit City the next day.
So I searched online and narrowed it down to the Ultimate Ears brand. All great reviews. I settled on these and boy I am happy.
Pros:
-Excellent, crisp, non-tingy sound.
-Isolates sound
-Exquisite detail in songs that you've never heard before
-Cool look; they are much smaller than their other models; do stick out of your ear; The other models make you look like Frankenstein, very odd look to them
-Go in your ear and the wire does not go over the ear, an important point if you wear sunglasses or eyeglasses when wearing them.
-Wire does not feel flimsy, sturdy construction
-Not nearly as expensive as their other models
-Comes with several different sized earpieces
Cons:
-Made in China (what else is new)
-Cheap plastic protective carry case that is guaranteed to break... their other models come with really snazzy metal cases
Tips:
-When you buy these, make sure you try ALL sizes of the rubber earpieces. Tight fit is essential, as an incorrect fit will leak sound and it sounds bad.
-If you use these outdoors, be VERY alert, They are so good at blocking outside noises, that you might not hear traffic until it is right on top of you. They do what they are supposed to do and isolate the music.
-Try to keep you ears clean ans wax will build up on the rubber earpieces. They give you a tool to clean, but I never used it.
-For cleaning, use a sink with some kind of stopper or fill a bowl with soapy water (so you don't lose them), put the earpieces in you hand with some liquid hand soap or mild dishwashing detergent, rub them in you hand with the soap for 20-30 sec, This will remove and wax, dirt, or dust. Use a q-tip for the inside. Let dry for 15 min or so.

My 4's sound fantastic (as good as my Sennheiser HD 280 pros, go see the CNET review), block out noise as well as "foamies", (the squishy, yellow foam ear plugs) and are very comfortable.
My first set had a problem with one of the drivers. Within a week Tarah had a brand new set on my doorstep (Thanks, Tarah!). So, on the outside chance yours aren't perfect, they'll fix it fast.
Some have said the cord is too short, but I can put my Zen in my front pocket and still have enough slack to be comfortable.
Bass addicts should look elsewhere. These give an accurate, flat response.
Get the UE Super.fi 4's!
