Customer Reviews:

Sound Great, Too Big [Posted on 2008-05-27]
I found these to be great on sound, but too large to enjoy. They also fall out frequently. I returned them and went for a Weston UM2 model.

Ultimate is the Keyword in Ultimate Ears Triple.Fi [Posted on 2008-06-03]
I reviewed this product extensively before finally making my purchase. Innitially, I was torn between this and the Shure SE530 triple driver IEM's and was left with the impression that both products had comparable sound quality, but different sound styles. I decided on the Triple.Fi based on build quality issues with the Shure product and its higher price. The sound quality is utterly oustanding and is incomparable to anything I own. I own Sennheiser HD-595 and Etymotics ER-4P, both of which are excellent products but are excelled by the Triple.Fi for sound quality.

The only area I would say they come in second is sound attenuation, which the ER-4P's do a bit better. Also determining the appropiate earplugs and the comfort of the earplugs may take some experimenting and acclimation.

OVERALL AN OUTSTANDING DEVICE FOR LISTENING TO MUSIC; HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Excellent IEM! [Posted on 2008-06-19]
I'm not an audiophile. I just love music and want to enjoy it as much as possible and I believe these IEM's were designed to do just that.

I live in NJ and commute to NYC like so many others and so decided I needed some entertainment on the way to and from work so I decided to finally purchase a portable mp3 player. After some research, decided on the Sony Walkman NWZ-A818. The IPOD and the Zen had bigger storage, yes, but I mainly chose Sony because of many reviews, stating it sounded better. I don't know how it compares to other mp3 players but I've been very satisfied with it so far and the stock in-ear phones that came with it sound VERY good! I also live an active lifestyle so I've been pretty much taking it everywhere with me.

After spending countless hours on the web and forums, looking for an IEM upgrade, I stumbled upon UE Triple Fi Pro... I immediately fell in love with it and wanted to have it NOW, then saw the price and almost fell off my chair. After all, my mp3 player cost LESS than these and I just couldn't justify spending over $300 for them but after seeing how everyone praised them, I had to have it.

I've had these for about a week now and I'm pretty satisfied. When I put them on for the 1st time, I was kind of disappointed because although they sounded excellent, since my stock Sony phones were very good, I couldn't really tell the difference, the sound was definitely more defined and louder but it didn't justify the cost vs benefit, not to mention it was kind of uncomfortable. This was also my experience with the Sony so I thought my ears just had to get used to them. I have small ears so I swapped the medium tips with small and it still had pretty good seal and was more tolerable. The longer I used them, the more comfortable they got and as of today, just a week later, I can't even tell they're in my ear. I can't sleep with them because I tend to toss and turn and lay on my side but as far as comfort goes, it's definitely do-able now.

Bass, treble and mids are all good, no complaints. As I mentioned before, they're louder than the stock phones (and MUCH better isolation) so instead of having the volume up 1/2 way, I now have it at 1/3. They came with storage box and extra tips and accessories so that's a plus. The wire is thick, replaceable and doesn't tangle as much. I've already had random people stop me on the street and ask if these are indeed THE triple fi pro's and pay complements which is always nice. I know after using these for a while longer, I'll have more things to comment on so I'll try and update this review. I agree with those who said you can hear stuff you've never heard before and that they sound better with high quality formats.

The last person that stopped me on the street knew a lot about these and said he recently got a pair as well and saw at least 4-5 others within the last week who had UE's. It was an upgrade for his UE-5 Pro's and also mentioned I should look into getting shorter tips which supposedly do a better job isolating and a lot more comfortable so I might look into that in the future but I'm already getting used to these so it's not a priority. Overall, I'm very satisfied with these IEM's!

Just remember, life is all about the felt presence of immediate experience (RIP Terence McKenna) and once you experience sound with these, there is no turning back.

Great sound and very helpful service [Posted on 2008-07-01]
Firstly, no question about it... these sound great. Great bass, excellent midrange and highs. The cord is heavy duty and is replaceable. My experience has been with Sony, Bose, and with the super-fi 3's from UE. These triple-fi's are the winner, hands down!
Here's my experience with service: While pulling out the cord, I accidentally ended up pulling out the guts of one of the earpieces, leaving me in shock and with 2 wires hanging out. I sent an email but then called service. They authorized a return and emailed me an RMA and I got a brand new pair within about 10 days from the first call. The key to the service, I believe, is to call. The customer service person was very helpful. I am pleased to be using my brand new triple-fi's today.
