Not for good quality sound recording. [Posted on 2008-02-19]
I purchased this device to record satellite radio and to transfer my LP's to CD. The manufacturer claims that it samples at 44kHz which is CD quality, but it does not. It samples at 33kHz, which means it has an upper frequency limit of 16kHz, according to the Nyquist rate. As a result, you get distorted sound because of serious aliasing with high quality sound sources which contain content above 16kHz (that's why they use at least 44kHz for CD's). This device also uses such high MP3 compression that there's no way to get good quality sound. If you're recording voice or from a low-fidelity sound source and you don't care about sound quality, the device works fine. But don't buy this if you're expecting good quality sound. You'll be very disappointed.
