First off, my taste in music runs the gamut from Classical to Club. These speakers live up to the job. In clasical music, you can HEAR the fingers moving up and down the frets! You can crank it up - I mean CRANK it up for Club music and rock the house.

I can't believe I had a large component system with "twice the wattage" - this baby puts it to shame. Plus, you can hook it up to any component! All in one convenience. Plus, in a stroke of genius, it has a data port so the firmware is upgradeable if needed! The amp is built in - why hasn't this been done so perfectly before. The price point is enticing.

I had the pleaseure of speaking to the Octavio creator, Phill V. The Octavio is a product of passion and excellent engineering. Too bad more products aren't born this way.

It is so perfectly engineered that you never hear the tweeters clip or the bass bottom out. The Octavio from VAF Research is the perfect system for rooms that are 40x60 or smaller, would be my suggestion.

I have an open floorplan house and needless to say, the place is groovin' with this baby. Its styling is sexy, the sound is incredible. I am a former big club DJ, and all I can say is VAF all the way!

These speakers are worth every cent. My ipod music wih 320kbps mp3s sound like cd quality, as the other reviewer said any acoustic music is like the musician is in the room with you.

WARNING- not compatible with new iPhone 3G or any newer iPods [Posted on 2008-07-28]
Although this stereo system is probably one of the best out there from a sound quality perspective, it has one major flaw: it uses an older charging method for its iPod dock - one that Apple had told product developers three years ago to stop using (for those who are interested, it is the switch from the Firewire pin which is 12v to another pin in the dock for USB which is 5v).

What this means is it will not charge the new iPhone 3G, and most likely will not charge any future iPod models. I contacted the company, and they stated upgrades are not possible - for a $500 premium product, that strikes me as rather poor.

So, I will use an external dock and run a connecting line to one of the other inputs and have to deal with an non-integrated solution from here on out.

Other critiques? The remote isn't as nice as the Apple one and the Apple one won't work with it anyway.

So, if you have no plans of buying an iPhone 3G or another iPod ever, then this might be an great buy. For everyone else, move along and buy something else.

I was looking for a speaker system that could be used in conjunction with an ipod, but also hooked up to a TV and additional sources, and which didn't require satellite speakers/wiring to overcomplicate a relatively compact living area. I came across reviews on a few different products (B+W Zeppelin; Altec Lansing; IHome etc) but was impressed with the support for the VAF (often rated against competing products), so took the plunge, and am extremely happy with the stunning quality of sound at all volumes. Whilst I don't think you get the same spatial dimension that you do with multiple speakers in a room, the audio quality is nontheless superlative... Would certainly recommend without hesitation... (small gripe: would have liked a white sock instead of the pink or silver ones...)
