Broke after 30 days [Posted on 2008-06-26] The headphones broke after 30 days - barely outside of the return period. How lame!
Awesome earphones and handsfree all-in-one! [Posted on 2008-06-30] When I saw these headphones I thought they were a very stylish headphone and was excited to replace the default iPhone headphones that never stay in my ear. When I put them on for the first time I was amazed at the sound quality especially the bass reproduction. They simply sound awesome! The handfree functionality is great too. You can answer calls with the button near the microphone. Sound quality is good, and the other person can hear me clearly. When in ipod mode, songs can be paused with a button press, but what I found that was really neat was that "double clicking" the button it skipped to the next song. Perfect for the gym when you dont want to mess around! GREAT PURCHASE!
Great Sound Quality, Die Quickly [Posted on 2008-07-07] Much better sound quality than the stock iPhone buds but these puppies die constantly. My second pair just died (buds stopped working) which is unacceptable for a $100 product. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.
There may be some decent pairs out there as my best friend's has been going for months, but even with me taking great care of them they still keep dying on me.
BUYER BEWARE: These earbuds WILL fail. [Posted on 2008-07-08] Mark my words: It's only a matter of time before one or both sides of the headset will fail. Everything is peachy until that happens, which would explain the positive reviews that can be found.
I am willing to be that many of those positive reviews were posted after owning these earbuds for a short time but before giving them a chance to fail, which seems to be inevitable in my judgement.
The only saving grace for these things is the 1-year warranty, and possibly Amazon.com's return policy.
That said, these earbuds are great if it wasn't for the poor durability. At $[...] one should be able to expect them to last more than a few months at best.
Until build quality improves, I simply cannot recommend these iPhone headphones.
Good sound but not for long... [Posted on 2008-07-14] Folks
I am writing as a somewhat disabused customer...
As it turns out I have within the past six months purchased no less that 3 V-Moda Vibe Duo for my iPhone and they all have failed me in short time.
To be honest with the first one I was pretty careless and after two month of intensive use it started to exhibit some hissing / cracking which finally turned into no sound at all. Well, I purchased a second one and after about ONE month of carful use I lost all sound in one of the ear buds... Still in love in what I believe is a great product both in terms of features and sound quality I recently acquired my third headset and this time I have decided to be super super careful. No bending in my pockets, always delicate insertions, well you get it... Much to my dismay it failed me after TWO weeks.
In all cases there is no visual clue of anything being damaged but the internal connectors obviously did not survive my use... I don't know if I'm doing something special or if there is some design weakness but all I can say is that the no-name el-cheapo headset I have used in-between the times I did not have my VibeDuo is still in good shape (obviously no mike, no remote control, poor sound but it WORKS).
So beware - very nice but not durable IMHO
