Customer Reviews:

digital camera [Posted on 2008-01-22]
Very disappointed, product did not work; didn't feel like going through the trouble of sending it back; because it was less than $15. I guess you get what you pay for. Don't waste your money.

Mixed Bag [Posted on 2008-02-21]
I found one of these for $10 at Walgreens, and thought I'd see what you can get for $10. Some aspects of the product were better than expected, others worse. The pictures from this camera range from very good, to down right awful. There's not alot of detail, making the pictures look like impressionist paintings. Many of the pictures are very interesting, even more interesting than ones taken with a 'real' camera. This camera's main fallback is in operation. Battery life sucks, there's just no other way to put it, and it doesn't work if it's less than 60 degrees F. It has a viewfinder that pops up out the top, but you have to hold the camera a few inches in front of your face to see what's in it. Because of that, it's very hit or miss when framing the shots. Basically if something is in the middle of the viewfinder, it will be in the picture...somewhere, but never the same place. The menu can be confusing as well, I deleted all the pictures when trying to change the compresion mode. All in all it's a fun toy that takes very artistic pictures, but can very frustrating when you actually are trying to use it, rather than just have fun with it.

Not terrible - Keep expectations low [Posted on 2008-04-07]
It's a disposable gadget that works fairly well in outside lighting but very grainy indoors. Keep a steady hand to take a decent pic and subjects should be in the 3-5 foot range. My camera's battery (that it came with) died within 12 hrs. Then after 30 pics, it lost the ability to delete photos and therefore unable to creat new ones. There's actually a high and low resolution but after trying the high resolution, i never tried the low...it was already pretty bad. We are using the camera for a scavenger hunt party so it is worth it for that. Don't spend more than $10. The cable and software worked well. So depending on your intentions for using this gadget, it does work and decent for the price. I don't think this works well for young children as it requires a steady hand...pictures blur easily. Completely unusable as a webcam.

It is good enough for the price [Posted on 2008-05-21]
I bought this camera three years ago at a Walgreens as a Christmas gift and that day we had fun taking those pictures, which actually were not that good. My sister gave me a new one just this last Christmas and I can tell there is a major improve on this mini camera. If you are buying it for having fun and play around it, having it when you need to take a picture and not having your normal camera with you it is ok, you must remember it is a $10.00 camera, don't expect too much. On the other hand I decided to use it as a web camera and it serves its purpose, the image is pretty clear If you have your room well illuminated, much better than a $25.00 web cam. So, play with it, have fun and don't take it too seriously.

Not worthy of even basic pics [Posted on 2008-07-13]
When asked to rate this product the rating says "toy", not "camera". Unfortunately, at CVS Pharmacy it doesn't say "toy" anywhere, and it is sold in the camera dept. If you were buying this for a 5-8 year old then the photo quality would be acceptable as long as you aren't expecting your child to be a future professional photographer, otherwise it's not adequate.

The camera has a two character LCD display for accessing features. It comes set to low resolution (176x144 pixels) high compression. I set it to high resolution (352x288 pixels), no compression, in order to get the best picture I could. (Note: my camera has a software bug. I found I have to select low resolution in order to get high resolution, and visa-versa.)
I took an indoor picture of my face, downloaded it to a laptop running Vista (there's no image preview LCD on the camera) and opened it. I couldn't make out a prominent birth mark on my face. I was hoping to use this camera to keep in my car's glovebox in case I ever get in to an automobile accident and need pictures right now. If it's not going to resolve a birthmark at 24" from my face then it's not going to resolve body damage to a vehicle.
Other things to consider: I'm over 40, I have a problem reading the instruction booklet print size and reading the characters on the LCD.
Each character only uses 7 bar segments, so it takes a lot of referring to the manual to figure out what is being displayed. You can only "delete last photo taken" or "delete all photos", and you must do this on the camera.
Trying it as a webcam, the photo quality was much poorer than the little built-in webcam on my Sony Vaio laptop, a Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC4.
