Features: No Problems [Posted on 2008-09-05] I purchase this as an upgrade for my Laptop.
I placed it in a harddrive enclosure and cloned my old drive to it using Acronis True Image (definately worth the price). I then installed it in my Laptop, replacing the old drive, turned on the laptop and Voila! the system booted perfectly.
It is running perfectly. If it wasn't for the increased harddrive space I would not be able to tell I did anything to the laptop.
250 Gigs of Freedom [Posted on 2008-09-14] I bought this drive one week ago, and the transition to my notebook was almost seamless. My 100 gig drive that came with my Dell Inspiron 6000 was full of files and photos and I wasn't able to run programs because of a lack of disk space. This drive provided 150 gigs of future space. Perhaps it will outlast the rest of my notebook's life. The drive is quiet and works well. What more could you ask for?
Perfect Replacement for my Dell 700m [Posted on 2008-10-04] I have to say that I was amazed by the performance of this Western Digital drive. They seem to have come a long long way in the last 12 years. Yes my only experience with WD was 12 years ago and I had been a fan of Conner/Seagate for the last 12 years. This drive is quieter and has better I/O capabilities than the 100GB 7200rpm PATA Seagate Momentus that it replaced. Many people will warn you that it is impossible to install a 250GB HDD on a Dell 700m laptop. I had no problems at all. Plug it in, format, then run the OS installer of your choice.
Small wonder [Posted on 2008-11-11] Working smooth without any problem, almost in perfect condition and that's why I have no comments.
Much louder than 'Whisper Quiet' [Posted on 2008-11-18] I've only been using my drive for a week so I can't comment on longevity, but this is the loudest laptop hard drive I have used in years. It is considerably louder than the 60gb Toshiba it replaced - and that was a four year old drive. The WD makes lots of clicking and ticking sounds and an odd sort of whooshing sound I've not heard before. Anyone who places a high value on silence would do well to look at another line of drives.
