Big design improvement! [Posted on 2006-06-04] I recently broke another transmitter made by this company, but I was happy enough with it to buy another product from them. This is a complete redesign of the product, with the flaws removed. Nice job!
Pros -
Self adjustable for a good fit
Charges most ipods
Can be used with other devices (no charging) such as my shuffle or a non ipod
Comes with a good assortment of docking clips for a tight fit
Very good reception, overpowered several stations in area. Generally no static.
Compact and attractive.
Very affordable, mine was $44, s/h included
Cons -
Buttons and display are quite small, don't adjust while driving
How well you will be able to view your screen depends on location of your cupholder
Have to remove my case to dock the nano
No wall plug, cigarette only - can't use out of car without power adaptor
Overall, this is an excellent value for the price and I am very satisified with it.
Excellent transmitter [Posted on 2007-07-06] Sound quality is crystal clear, even in urban areas. There is no interference, fading, or flat/hollow sound.
Dock is easy to use with a variety of iPod products, thanks to the included cradle converters. The cupholder design is ingenious; you don't have to screw it to your dash and ruin the car's interior. It costs 40-50% less than other units of comparable quality.
Because it charges the iPod as it plays, it is ideal for long car trips. 5+ stars.
Ok overall... [Posted on 2007-07-07] This is an ok system overall. I had the all-inclusive docking station prior to this, but it broke. It was very nice, but now the markup makes it not cost efficient. And I have tried the transmitters that are seperate devices. This one ranks somewhere in between. I thought I liked the idea of a cupholder model, but it makes me realize how much I use both cupholders! So, sometimes it gets in the way. The worst thing about it though is that unlike the all in one device, you have to plug in to the iPod using both this dock and then a headphone cord in to the iPod to transmit the sound. I have had problems with iPods and their jacks, so this is a little troublesome - and cumbersome with the extra cord!
But, it transmits well and holds the iPod securely, so overall, it gets a 3.
