Customer Reviews:

It WORKS [Posted on 2008-06-04]
This is GREAT. I tried others that were similiar. This one ACTUALLY works.
I live in a crowded NYC apt building. It transmits through 4 concrete walls from my comuter in office to my stereo in living room. I even try and be cute and listen to my computer on a portable FM headset outside my building. This thing has range and is pretty clear (not perfect) you may or may not get some static or interference depending on where u live. But considering all hte obsticles i am happy

Very good FM Transmitter [Posted on 2008-06-24]
I've owned the Belkin Tunecast II and I wasn't a fan of its performance, so I figured I'd try this one out.

Fortunately I had no problems finding a frequency for the Whole House Transmitter. The sound quality was much better than the Tunecast II. I do a lot of driving in the Volusia, Seminole, and Flagler counties in FL and didn't have to change frequencies.

I won't give it a 5 star rating because it was a little awkward setting it up in my truck, and it is very pricey. It was stolen out of my truck, so it looks like I might purchase this again.

Dissapointed [Posted on 2008-06-27]
Very Dissapointed in this product. Gets a lot of hiss and interference on all frequencies and only works at all from within 10 feet or so.

Weak [Posted on 2008-07-08]
I have been very disappointed with this product. From the start I have only been able to get the weakest signal. I called and they suggested "putting it in a higher location" and told me I could extend the antenna - it is just a wire, if it needs to be longer why doesn't it come that way? Even with the radio in the same room it is weak. They said that it doesn't work well with radios that don't have digital tuning - like most of the clock radios and boom boxes in my house! Also they said that often it doesn't work in bigger cities - too much interference. They should really put that on the website. And now, after a few months, I get nothing - seems to not work at all anymore.

Works Great For Me! [Posted on 2008-08-12]
I was purchasing a new sound system and wanted a method to listen to the sound system (which is upstairs) to the basement of my house. I heard Ron Rossburg on Leo Laporte's radio show recommend this and I have not been disappointed.

Setup:

Very easy to install. The box gives you everything you need. You can even power the transmitter through a USB port on a computer (recommended: this method tends to reduce any humming you may receive plugging it into an electrical outlet, or use the battery powered option). Check online for unused fm frequencies and play with the transmitter to find an empty frequency to transmit on. You can plug anything into it and transmit a signal, provided the device has a headphone jack.

A recommendation

Get yourself some old stereo wire, use electrical tape, tape the wire to the antenna and run the wire up the wall. The reception will be outstanding! I can go halfway down the street and still pick up the signal. I often wonder if any of my neighbors have picked up my little radio station. They might wonder about this weird radio station that plays the audio from CNN much of the time!

Overall:

This is a device you may have to adjust to make it work for where you live. While it gives your everything you need, it may not be an "out of the box setup" for you. Once you get it working though, it delivers.

Four out of five stars.
