Buyer Beware [Posted on 2008-12-20] I was delighted at first with Windows Live One Care - thought I would put it on all my machines. Got to the end of the trial period and spent hours (literally) and numerous long distance calls attempting to pay for it. None of the staff seemed to know that because I live in Bermuda I could NOT buy it. No reason given. Eventually gave up and had to uninstall totally because I kept being prompted to pay up. Be SURE that you live in one of the geographic areas that support this software. Check first before bothering with it.
This is a good program, I like it! [Posted on 2008-12-25] I have been using this program for a couple of years now. It has some excellent features which make life easier. The tune-up, backup, virus protection, pop-up block, and networking features all work great. I'm quite peased with this program.
Best tool for the average user [Posted on 2008-12-25] Windows Live OneCare 2.0 (Up to 3 Users)
I am a computer professional and many of the problems we resolve for hundreds of dollars would be fixed or prevented by MS Windows Live OneCare 2.0. People who have virus infected computers that I have recommended this too have just install OneCare were back to normal in a day or so.
Some Key Features:
Virus protection
Spyware protection
Defrag disks automatically
Delete temp files
Easy home networking and more for up to 3 computers
Adjust startup programs to improve system performance
Backup of key data
No software is perfect but this would be the first software I would put on a new computer or one that is getting slow. This will keep your computer running well far longer than anything else you can do unless you are a computer expert and is more efficient. Perfect for the home user!

Windows Live OneCare 2.0 [Posted on 2008-12-29] Simular to most Microsoft products this product would like to make far to many decisions for you. This seems to be better than many of the programs that I have purchased over the years but, that is not saying much.

Just shut down after 1 month [Posted on 2009-01-01] Bought it direct from Microsoft and downloaded for $29.99. Worked great for about a month, then just shut down. The Windows firewall turned off and wouldn't turn back on. Couldn't bring up OneCare at all. Logged onto Microsoft's website to troubleshoot. Among all the "cures" I was advised to try the last was to uninstall and then reinstall. Uninstalled as instructed and when I went to download it was asked to pay for it again. Duh! When I called Microsoft the tech said in very nice tones, "Toughh" I've downloaded Free Avast and it works just fine. That tore it with Microsoft for me. Next computer: Probably Apple.
