Tuff, but not perfect [Posted on 2008-02-03] I bought this recently for my iPod touch, and I am overall quite pleased with it. The case is rugged and sturdy, and it feels like the iPod could sustain quite a drop in this protective skin.
I take issue with two things about this case:
1. The skin around the dock connector is flabby and warped
2. The screen protector makes the screen all blotchy with trapped air bubbles. I couldn't find a way to make it smooth.
I just use the skin without the screen protector. I've heard the screen is hardly scratchable anyway.
Pretty much, you get what you pay for with this product.
False Advertising [Posted on 2008-02-18] it is comfortable and fits the ipod touch well. However it does not come with a belt clip or protective shield. i think i'm going to return this thing and get my money back. nothing but false advertising.
Does the job! [Posted on 2008-02-25] I just recently purchased this case, but without the belt-clip. Other than that the case is identical to the one pictured, and was packaged with a screen protector.
First, I usually hate screen protectors, but this one works very well. I was able to apply it with zero bubbles, on my first try. It's completely invisible, and that's the only reason why I'd actually leave it on. There is no noticeable difference in feel when navigating through the Touch...I don't have to tap/scroll any harder than normal.
The rubber case itself fits snugly, and does not add a lot of depth or width. There's a headphone hole large enough for any headphone jack, and there is a flap for the iPod USB/Dock connection (so it will stay closed over the port unless it's being used). The sleep button is covered completely, as is the "Home" button on the Touch. The only other hole present is for the light sensor on the face of the Touch.
The case makes it a lot easier to grip the Touch in your hands, as well as gripping those headphone cords when you wrap them around the Touch. Obviously this thing won't help it survive a 2-story drop, but it does add a little more peace-of-mind. For the $15 bucks I paid for it at Wal-Mart, I'd say it's definitely worth it. Some may prefer the leather cases, some may prefer the hard-plastic ones...but to me, this is the most functional, most simple, and the best performer.
Tuff Wrap [Posted on 2008-03-15] Thank you very much. My ipod is protected from the elements now. Speedy delivery would def. buy from seller again.
best review ever? [Posted on 2008-04-02] ok, maybe not, but i thought i might point out a couple of things you might like to know, and i'll see if i can keep it short.
1. yes, it's true, this item does *not* have the belt clip (that's the tuffwrap 'plus', apparently). fine with me, i would never recommend having something this valuable swinging off a belt, as if saying, 'hello, look at me, please swipe me!' or at the risk of it being damaged by knocking into something. even so, it would be nice if amazon made that distinction, and using it as a stand would be nice.
2. the screen protector seemed to already have scratches on it (and this was right out of the box). however, i never actually used it because from research i heard it sucks so i'm already using another protector (side note 1 - if you have an ipod touch and you don't have a screen protector, then stop reading and go get one).
3. it's nice and snug, yes, but each side of the screen (left and right if in landscape) don't *perfectly* hug the sides and you might find yourself habitually trying to smooth it on to make a perfect fit.
4. yeah, this thing is a fan of lint. if you don't like fluff, sadly you will need a sandwich bag if you are planning on putting it in your pocket. sandwich bag is not included.
5. qc doesn't appear to be a priority for xtrememac - along with screen protector issue, there was some kind of off colour blotch on the back of the rubber sleeve. feeling it when on the ipod, you could tell it was a bit thinner here. it's probably an isolated issue, and amazon is being pretty cool about exchanging it - hence why i have not had too much hands on so far. side note 2 - it does suck when you find out you have to wait even longer to actually get the product you ordered, but i guess that's life. not the reason for the three stars, though. i gave it three because it's a ok product - it seems to do the job ok. nothing that makes me want to jump up and down and cry tears of joy. but then it's just a case - and one that doesn't actually scratch your ipod like a lot of those hard ones out there.
5. ok, longer than i intended. sorry.
