I dropped my new iphone twice before I got the otterbox defender case. Both times I held my breath to see if it survived. I was lucky. There were dents in the case, but the unit was intact. I felt that my luck would soon run out so I bought this case. A friend who works in the Apple store said it was great. Definitely watch the video on the otterbox site to see how to use/ install it. It is bulkier (although I can still carry it in my back jeans pocket) which was a deal killer for my husband who carries his iphone in his shirt pocket. I keep mine in my purse, on the car seat, on the dash when I plug it in for itunes through my radio, etc...so size wasn't an issue for me. I actually feel like I have better control of it now that it has a neoprene no-slip edge. The screen is covered by a protective membrane that is absolutely as sensitive as my husband's naked iphone. The color is cool and people often ask where they can get one. The apple logo is visible on the back. The only feature you can't use is the little vibrate button on the side of your phone, but I don't mind going through settings to do the same thing. The case is also water resistant which has been great for beach, boat, and rainy trips.

The case is a hard plastic two-piece (the yellow part) and is covered after you put your phone in by a rubbery neoprene skin (the black part).

Bottom line: I have continued to drop this phone and my heart doesn't even skip a beat. Considering the heart skipping price for the phone and how dependent I've become on the little sucker, this case is invaluable!

The otterbox superbly protects the iphone, and the looks are awesome. The holster holds the iphone pretty secure. The only drawback I have is the sound. Movies have almost no sound from the tight encasing. Overall, I am happy with this product.

At first my husband and I thought the case was a little large,but the 1st time my husband dropped his he became a fan. it gets alot of attention,everyone wants to know what kind of case it is and i'm the first to tell them.great product and will purchase otter items again.

After going for a full year without a case for my iphone (And trust me, it is pretty rugged by itself without a case), I picked up this when I was issued a brand new shiny iPhone from Apple's warranty program. I looked at a TON of cases. Heck, I had a year to decide whihc one I wanted. I am so glad I finally settled on this one. First, Otterbox is known for making rugged cases that stand up to the elements, and I have been pleased with my Otterbox iPod cases I have purchased. However, their cases are also easy on the eyes. They turn heads, but are still elegant and sleek. This case is no exception. My brother-in-law, a fellow iPhone lover, was trying out my iPhone in this case the other day, and he didn't even realize this case had a screen protector. Yes, it is that smooth. It is barely noticible, but still keeps the whole package out of the elements. The two-tone construction and how tight it hugs the phone is of extremely high quality. It adds almost half to the thickness of the phone, but that is a price you pay for rugged protection, and many other cases on the market without full protection are thicker, so I have no complaints about the size. lengthwise and widthwise, it is barely bigger, jsut enough to get around the phone inside. I have not experienced the lesser sound quality inside the case that the others have noticed, but my phone was only a few days old when I put it in the case. My old phone did have a decrease in sound quality, probably due to dust, etc i nthe speaker area from not keeping it cases for the first year. Buy this case, it is worth every penny and provides 100% full coverage for the entire phone.

It does seem to be a nice cover but it's not as tough as I had anticipated. I dropped it in the rain the first week I had it because the belt clip that comes with it doesn't hold the phone very well at all. Despite being in the case the phone did get very wet. (Fortunately no damage) I also have a big scratch on the Otterbox screen.
Overall, I do like the case and would recommend it. Just don't expect too much.
