I've been using the Beyerdynamic MMX headset for a couple of months now and find it a serviceable piece of audio hardware. It is very easy to use, and lightweight, as well, so for someone looking for a good beginner's headset, this would work quite nicely.

It is, however, obviously built for home use and not for a studio or classroom. The fact that it is lightweight--a positive attribute for the home gamer, podcaster, or VoIP user--means that in another, more challenging environment (such as a school room), its construction is no longer lightweight, but flimsy.

We have used these headsets for our school. They are just fantastic. They have great sound reproduction and the microphone quality is beyond anything out there in USb headsets.

They work very well in on the mac and windows ( but drivers in leopard do not work yet)

Not bad but for this price you can get something better [Posted on 2008-03-27]
This is not a bad headset but for about the same price, I feel this headset is a better one to get:

Sennheiser PC 166 USB Stereo Multimedia Gaming Headset

both in terms of audio quality as well as mic quality and comfort/build quality.
