iH52 review [Posted on 2007-01-23] I am torn over this unit. It sounds great, looks sharp but unfortunately does not work with my early generation 20 gb ipod (unless I hook it up with mp3 inline). My ipod will dock in unit without a problem, but will not charge and doesn't show data. One would think they would make these compatible with ALL ipods, even it is a couple years old!! Also only has 6 preset FM stations. I've had it for a few weeks but can't justify the $200 price tag and keeping it if doesn't work with my ipod in it's intended purpose. I don't think it's worth having to buy another >$200 ipod to get complete use out of it.
Looks beautiful. Quality is TERRIBLE. [Posted on 2007-04-05] This system looks nice and perfectly matches the color and finish of the iPod, but the quality leaves much to be desired. It has terrible radio reception. If you connect a sync cable to the unit, the remote no longer works. And worst of all, the cheap speakers produce a terrible hissing noise that can be heard from several feet away. This hissing noise NEVER goes away, even if you have the system muted. I really suggest you look elsewhere. This product is not worth buying.
Great sound [Posted on 2007-05-01] Great system, clean sound and very loud, the display is great so I can see what songs are on from across the room! I have 3 iHome products and I havent had a problem yet.
Not bad for the $$$; really 3.5 stars [Posted on 2007-07-14] This is a great system for the money. Sound is pretty good and the feature are ok. The guy that can't get the song title with his video iPod: push the display button. This will display the song titles, artist, etc..., but you'll have to hit the display button again if you want to scroll through your iPod. You can skip between songs on the current album/playlist but it won't go to the next album for instance. Not much of a problem for me.
Also, the remote was a pain for a while because when I wanted to skip a song it would just FF a couple seconds. This was infuriating, until I learned if you hit the display button it takes care of this problem.
I am unhappy that one of my FM station always has interference. The other ones don't but that one will not go away. All in all it's been an enjoyable system, with a few quirks. I don't think their engineers are the best though. Compared to how amazing other gadgets have become this one falls short.
Great sound BUT not control of Ipod Video [Posted on 2007-11-10] It has great sound but is a pain to try to change the songs on the IPOD VIDEO. You have to change it directly in the Ipod so the remote control only manage the volume.
Something that I didn't figure it out is how turn off the automatically star on. It play itself and I don't know how turn this off.
