I no longer have an iPOD due to this thing [Posted on 2007-12-29] I followed the instructions and then plugged in my IPOD and now it is fried. Do not buy unless you were already planning on purchasing a new IPOD. I rated this with one star, but if I had my way there would be no stars at all.
The alarm will give you a heart attack! [Posted on 2008-01-02] Most features on this are good, speakers, portability, remote control... but the alarm is unusable, no matter what I do the volume is immediately LOUD! It will scare you and your neighborhood and I find myself frantically trying to turn it off within seconds. There was nothing gentle about the alarm even when using my ipod.
If you are looking for a nice alarm clock look elsewhere!
a work-around for the alarm problem [Posted on 2008-01-14] Yes, it's true, this alarm will blast you out of the room. However, there is a workaround. If you want to wake to something on your ipod, you can leave the unit on (if it is plugged in with the AC adapter), set the volume where you want it and then set the alarm on your ipod and place it back onto the unit. (If you use your ipod controls to turn off the ipod and don't touch the unit, the unit will stay on and simply play again once the ipod comes on.)
I think the best thing about this unit is the remote. It is fully-featured.
Dreadful sound quality [Posted on 2008-02-21] I ordered this because I wanted truly portable speakers, ie something compact enough to thrown in an overnight bag, with a remote, that would work with the iPod Touch and the option to run off batteries. I'm not interested in the alarm feature which seems to be the main complaint from other reviewers here.
On the plus side, the device does work with the Touch, and the remote navigates the Touch's menus ok (unlike e.g. the Logitech Pure-Fi device), with only one problem, it can't get past the "thumb-swipe" screen. It does however have an off/on button that gets round this, lest you might have to actually leave the sofa!
However, the sound quality is just so awful that I returned it. It's not so much that it's tinny as somehow it just sounds horrible, it is by far the worst sound quality of any of the portables that I've tried so far, including my old $10 "Cube Travel Speakers"
Bottom line - avoid this product.
good, but prob. w/ volume [Posted on 2008-04-03] i won this item at a chinese auction and was very pleased except i cannot get the volume lower than max-when i lower it, its still sounds at max. i can't return it anyway, so i guess ill just keep it-maybe ill be able to figure out how to fix it. other than that, great product, smart idea, useful...
