I was happy with my purchase of the iLive for my Ipod. I did a previous purchase and it did not accept the newer Ipod. The screen is a good size for the car or a plane
Incompatible with iPhone 3G. Poor construction. [Posted on 2008-08-29]
I wanted this player for two reasons: to watch movies on an airplane and to play my iPhone 3G at work. It played a DVD adequately on the flight, with plenty-loud volume for two sets of headphones. It's not compatible with iPhone 3G.
Deductions:
One star for the inferior, monkey-plastic construction. The controls have the tactile sense of a pedestrian "walk" signal. The carry case has that "cheap fabric" residue on it. This player is like a "free" gift from the time share salesman, or perhaps the 25,000-ticket prize at the Skeeball arcade.
One star for the iPod control interface. The graphics and lag reminded me of my childhood Commodore 64.
One star for the tiny, tinny speakers. The iPhone 3G sounds better by itself.
One star for being incompatible with iPhone 3G. Maddeningly, it sort of feels like you might be able to jiggle and power-cycle it into working, but this defeats the purpose of having an iPhone and ultimately, it bugs out anyway. This should be a 3-star deduction in my opinion, but 2 stars of hate have to go back to Apple, for making the iPhone 3G backwards-incompatible.

I was looking for a DVD player to use in my car. Being able to use my iPod was a must. This product was much more then stated. I showed it to friends and three of them ordered one the same day.

I was looking for a player for my father who was just put in a rehab/nursing facility. This player does everything it promises but I had one problem with it. When using an Ipod Touch to watch movies it works great but when you are finished the Ipod resets to song list only and will no longer show videos until I reset it with my PC and ITunes.
This is the only thing that makes it frustating.
This is the closest player to the Smart Player (will not play new generation Ipods) that I have found. All in all, I highly recommend this player.
