Great product [Posted on 2008-09-01] Good sound, pretty easy to set up alarm, even the default alarm does not have an obnoxious sound.
great value [Posted on 2008-09-21] I like this so much that I bought a second one. Sound is very good. Remote control is a little finicky and unfortunately it does not support the iPhone. But this is where you'll always find my video iPod.
Overall a pretty good product. [Posted on 2008-10-16] I received this product as a birthday gift. I had been looking for a good iPod alarm clock/speakers for about a year and was excited to receive this product. Overall, I believe the iLuv is a quality product.
Like another mentioned, my clock also has a slight difficulty keeping time. Over a month or so, it will "jump" a minute ahead of the other clocks in the room. It doesn't bother me much as it only takes a few seconds to change.
I don't mind the back light being so bright as my bedroom is in the back of the house where there is no light coming in at night. I like to use the lowest setting as my night light.
My biggest complaint, which I don't believe I've seen others comment on yet, is that when I hit the snooze button, it doesn't always work. Sometimes just one tap works, but sometimes it takes several.
If I had the choice of purchasing this product or another, I'd stay with this product as it has all of the features I was looking for. In my opinion, the positives outweigh the negatives.
Returned [Posted on 2008-10-21] I just bought this to replace my standard clock radio which had died. So my no 1 priority was for clock radio functionality. Unfortunately, as a clock radio the ILuv falls short with two main annoyances.
1) The dimmer - it has four settings; bright, brighter, brightest and off. The lowest setting is way too bright for me, it is like a flashlight shining in my eyes, and turning off the dimmer just defeats the whole purpose.
2) The Alarm volume - the minimum setting is 10, why not 1? Too loud for me first thing in the morning.
As an iPod speaker, it works pretty well, the sound covers a decent range, not huge but more than acceptable for this price range. The volume control is a little annoying, but no show stopper.
If you can live with the bright display and loud minimum volume, then I would recommend this, however I find the dimmer to bright for my liking and will be returning this product. From other reviews I have read, most iPod clock-Radios suffer from the same problem, sad, looks like no iPod compatible clock radio for me.
excellent moneys worth [Posted on 2008-11-22] Everyone with an iPod knows about the iHome. I wanted the iHome but didn't want to pay the $90 or however much it was at the time for it. I investigated for alternatives and found the iLuv for about $30 cheaper with the same amount of good reviews. So I took a chance and bought it.
I wasn't expecting an outstanding audio experience, so I wasn't at all disappointed. This is perfect to play music while I'm studying, cleaning my room, playing games, whatever.
Buy it if you have an iPod (unless you're someone with an already good audio system [i.e. surround sound] that you could plug into.
