Great iPod Case!! [Posted on 2007-10-08] Trust me when I say I've owned my share of iPod cases. I do mega research before I purchase cases because I want the best one for my iPod that travels with me all the time. Most importantly, I want something to protect my investment so that it's resell value is optimal (I've sold 3 iPods with high return).
In my opinion this is by far the BEST case ever for iPod. It's sturdy (thick corners) and it covers the entire iPod (except for the earbud connection). There's no obstruction to the wheel. The response so good that it's as if there's no cover on it. The bottom dock connection has a flap you easily open to sync your tunes. It also comes with a belt clip that easy to remove if you don't need it.
Most impressive is how snug the case fits. Putting it on isn't super easy but it's no chore. It took me about 2 minutes to put on. I've purchased two of these thru Amazon already. Both my sons liked mine so much that they also purchased their own. When I recently received a new 80 GB iPod, I had to have an iSkin case ready for it before I started using it. I'm assured that it's not only protected (from dropping on the floor) but that it's "newness" look is preserved for the life of it's use.
Best Protection for your investment. [Posted on 2007-12-10] I love this case, I see so many people with ipods that are all scratched up and damaged. Ipod's cost too much money not to go ahead and get a great case to protect it. The quality of this product is exceptional, it covers everything and has all the openings in the right places. I would recommend this to anyone looking to keep their ipod in pristine condition.
Good, but Not Perfect [Posted on 2007-12-12] I bought this case for my new 80GB iPod Classic from the great reviews people had given it, as well as from word of mouth from a family member.
In the end, I'm pretty disappointed.
Yes, the cover does what it's meant to do - it covers & shields my iPod, and is very sturdy, which I love. However, my biggest (and most warranted) complaint is the cover on the touch wheel. I don't know if it's because the new Classics are a little more slim and don't fit in the case as they should, but I've tried adding cushion behind my iPod in the form of tissue paper, and no matter how firmly my iPod fits into the skin, the sensitivity of the touch wheel is always hit-or-miss. Sometimes it is very responsive and easy to use; other times, I have to advance forward a menu and go back just to "wake" the wheel up. I've even had to go as far as to slide the iPod entirely out of the skin to change songs out of frustration.
The bottom line: the iSkin is a great skin that will really protect your iPod. Whether you can deal with the touch wheel cover or not is up to you.
4.5 stars [Posted on 2008-01-17] This is probably the best iPod case that I have owned. By far, the most intelligent design is the belt clip itself which features a rather clever plastic locking mechanism that is easy to lock/unlock yet rugged enough to stand up to day-to-day use.
The case itself is made of thick silicone, but with pores on the back of the iPod for heat dissipation. While I can't comment on whether or not the pores actually work to the degree as advertised, I do have to admit that it's a testament to the designers who clearly understand the operational characteristics of the iPod itself; having an iPod overheat is NOT a good thing for the unit and the battery.
The screen protector is probably the best fit that I have ever seen in a case which utilizes a built-in silicone lip on the case itself and uses a raised silicone nub to keep it from sliding around. It's scratch resistant, so I'm hoping that it will have a longer life then the Belkin case that I had which experienced a scratch on day one.
Only 2 minor complaints:
1. The entire case covers the iPod (except for the small pores on the back) including a flap that covers the docking port. The iSkin website advertises that it can fit in the Apple Universal dock. This is true, but I found that it works only if you remove the 5th generation template (in the universal dock) for the 80 GB iPod AND if you tuck the sleeve back into the case. IT STILL WORKS, but I was hoping that it would be a little easier than this.
2. The hold button is completely covered. It is still usable as there is a raised protrusion for using the hold button, but it's a little finicky at first. Once you get the hang of placing the right pressure through the silicone, it's fairly easy to use it from that point forward.
All in all, a good case with some minor issues. I would highly recommend it.
Best thing for your Ipod [Posted on 2008-02-22] This protective case is amazing! It looks great on my IPod, keeps my screen bright and clear for movie (there's absolutely no dust trapped between the protector and the screen). The clip is surprisingly strong; I rode my bike over 50 miles and was never worried about it coming loose from my waistband. I would have been willing to pay at least $15 more than I did if I knew how well it worked.
