The system really looks good as far as technical specifications, and the features I've tested all seem to work fine. There is unfortunately one major problem with this product that you would only know about if you listened to it at home or in a quiet place. As soon as you turn the unit on, a loud buzzing, probably a fan, turns on. It sounds like the fan on a desktop computer, but louder than most. The noise continues all the time, so if you are listening to music with highs and lows in terms of activity, the lows will all be filled in by "buzzzz" like someone is using a hairdryer in the room. So watch out---i've never heard another stereo that made so much noise by itself, and you'd do much better to get a better-quality one with less features. I didn't return mine, because of the hassle of shipping it back, and that's a risk I took by purchasing something only by the internet specs. Live and learn.

A DUD out of the Box!! [Posted on 2007-12-31]
I got my stereo shipped through the Walmart website.
When it arrived,I hooked it up (very simple as most compact stereos are!), plugged it in .. the backlight came on, so far so good... but when I hit the Standby button (to turn the system ON), NOTHING HAPPENED.
Press ANY button, nothing. Nada. Zip.
Tried other outlets, double checked the instructions and my hookup work, so I knew I wasn't crazy!
The stereo would never even turn ON!! I called walmart and they agreed to take it as a return to a store instead of my having to ship it to the manufacturer! There's NO WAY i will be returning this to the manufacturer!!! Pay for shipping that they claim they will "reimburse" you for, and wait for them to repair a BRAND NEW STEREO??!!
Look elsewhere for a better quality brand with a longstanding reputation like Sony. I am regretting that I didn't!!!
