Could not believe the sound! [Posted on 2007-12-29] When my friend first showed me this little system still in the package I thought this had to be a piece of junk and needed to go back. However upon its simple setup and battery installation and first use I was blown away. It is small enough to fit in ones pocket but the sound that comes from this thing is huge. Not distorted either. Very crisp treble and a very good mid range and bass output. It can easily fill a fairly large room with more then ample sound. Not sure about the battery life. It takes four AAA which are not included. Only problem, she didn't buy it here and paid too much, which brings me here to find one cheaper. I did, much cheaper. Only 4 stars because I am not sure of battery life.
Outstanding!!! [Posted on 2008-01-26] I first bought one of these right after Christmas -- I needed a speaker (any speaker!) that would work with my daughter's new 3rd generation iPod nano. While I liked the design of the speaker (though small, it looked nice and I liked the idea that it was adjustable to fit any size iPod), I really wasn't expecting anything special from it. Well, when we plugged the iPod into it and started listening, we were amazed by the sound quality! At first, I thought that possibly the 3rd generation nano simply produced a better quality output, but when I plugged my 2nd generation nano into the speaker I was equally impressed. The sound is richer and fuller than you would expect from such a small speaker, and clearly outperformed our old Mcally speaker (the round one specifically made for the 2nd generation nano) -- don't get me wrong, we had always liked those speakers for their convenience and portability and had never felt the sound on them was bad, but they now sound tinny by comparison. I was so impressed by the difference that I immediately bought 2 more of the iSymphony speakers for my other daughter and myself for our 2nd generation nanos, even though we had speakers that worked perfectly well otherwise.
I mainly use mine on my desk at work (it sounds like I have a stereo system now, instead of an iPod with a portable speaker). As far as battery life, I have no complaints. I use this speaker pretty steadily through an 8 hour work day 5 days a week (though I do try to remember to turn it off if I'll be away from my desk for any length of time) and I got nearly a month out of the batteries before I needed to change them. I'm not sure what would be considered "good" by others, but I was happy to get that kind of battery performance from it. So to sum it up, if you're thinking about buying this speaker, stop thinking and just get it -- you'll love it!
Great Value. Great product for a low end speaker. [Posted on 2008-02-28] Perfect if you want portable, compact, good sound with out spending a lot of money. I use these with my MP3 player (Sansa e260) for work (desk job), out doors and when I am working around the house. Enough sound to fill a 3-car garage. My only criticism is that the cord from the speaker that plugs into the MP3 player is a too little short. But the adjustable width between the speakers makes up for the short cord because you can adjust the gap to fit your player.
Battery life is longer than expected and the option to plug it into a wall socket is nice. If you're looking for a portable value and are willing to trade off sound quality these are perfect. Don't get me wrong, the sound is great for the price but these are not going to give you high-end sound like Bose. I am very happy with the product but I do have another speaker setup for those days when I want to rock the house, Bose of course. ;-)
Got a second one [Posted on 2008-05-18] We ordered one a while back for one of our daughters. They keep fighting over it so we got another one. While it looks small it has very good sound.
LOVE IT!!! [Posted on 2008-08-25] I JUST LOVE THIS THING!!! the only thing is it's not loud enough to be used in a large open space or outside. a mid-sized room is perfect though.
