iRiver AFT 100 works as well as can be expected [Posted on 2008-06-27] This product works great! I have yet to use it in a city, but in the suburbs it works fine.
The packaging and literature were a little cheesy, a plain white box obviously not intended for this product and photocopies of the instructions, which were perhaps not entirely complete.
Those of you who experience distortion: TURN DOWN THE VOLUME ON YOUR MP3 PLAYER!!! The distortion may not be from radio reception, but too much output from your MP3 headphone jack. When I first got the iRiver, it distorted and I was initially disappointed, but when I turned the volume down on my ZEN Vision, it worked perfectly. There was nothing about this in the instructions.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.
Better than any other I have seen [Posted on 2008-07-01] I got this after having the misfortune of using the offerings of Belkin and Radio Shack. I had to constantly change my stations from one side of Tallahassee to another. Plus I was getting bleed through all the time. I then got the iriver and I have loved it. I have not had to change my stations once anywhere in Tallahassee and up to my parents house in Ga. I would highly recommend this device. The only thing I have a problem with is I had to snake the cable around my console because I have my mp3 player hanging from my mirror. Buy this, you will not regret it.
Buy this one [Posted on 2008-07-07] I have not had one problem with this product. I am in the city often and have never had any interference with the signal. I also commute about 30 miles and do not experience any interference or loss of signal. I would definitely buy this again and recommend it. I have also tried a competitors transmitter and it was horrible (Belkin).
Very nice gagett [Posted on 2008-07-10] I got this as a birthday gift and have really enjoyed it. I drive a saturn SL, in South LA county/North Orange county area. It was very easy to set up, and does quite well even when I drive from Whittier to Fullerton. It will fuzz a bit at times, and I'm guessing that is interference... it is radio frequencies! And the sound is better than when I burned the tracks on CDs (not great recording quality for these tracks).
I've not used any others, so I don't have any comparison to offer, but I like this one and am very happy with it.
Save Your Money [Posted on 2008-07-15] One of the most miserable pieces of electronics I've ever bought. Interference is constant, and if you live in an area with a lot of college stations lower in the dial, and people all around you on the highway using Sirius satellite receivers, it'll be even worse. Plus, if you listen to bootleg live shows with dead air in between tracks, the unit switches over to radio automatically until loud music comes back on. Save your money and buy one of the new generation of stereos with mini-plug auxiliary jacks or USB ports on the front that allow you to connect your MP3 player directly into the receiver.
