Since getting my first simplehuman trashcan I've been a loyal customer. Their cans are easy to use, reliable, and look really nice. I had a trashcan from Walmart that this was a replacement for and the action on the step is noticeably smoother on the simplehuman one. I've also never had any of their trashcans break on me.

My husband and I were looking for a sleek-looking yet functional trash can that would fit in a small space next to our kitchen cabinet. We love the fact this was a step can and that it was semi-round. When we open the lid it is quiet and smooth. The top does not hit against the side of the cabinet. It is also easy to remove trash. We have found that it is very easy to keep clean; a lot easier than our old plastic trash can with the swing lid. I highly recommend this product.

Nice looking, functional, quiet. Trash bag doesn't show which I love and it holds a large amount of trash. The shape is great. I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it.
Plastic hinges ruin an otherwise nifty can [Posted on 2008-07-14]
Loved it for a year and then the plastic hinged foot pedal broke, so now we grab onto a grubby can lid everytime we throw something out. (a lot of extra hand washing). Why, if you are going to design a 100$ stainless trash can, would you make a critcal part out of plastic. A little stainless foot pedal and we would still have a trash can instead of trying to fit it into another trash can. Shopping for a new one today.

I can't believe I spent $100 on a trash can, but I have loved it! In a family of six, this was worth the money. Before, we used to have to pull out a smaller plastic trash can out from under the sink, take out the bag, put the stinky bag aside in full view for the day until it was completely full, then finally throw it in the trash can outside, every day! After searching everywhere for a better trash can, I selected this Simplehuman. Now, the 40 liter, attractive (no unsightly bag showing), stainless steel (matches our appliances), holds all of our trash for the day, or even two days sometimes because we can really compact it in there. I like that a regular 13 gallon bag can be used in it. I like the convenient foot pedal that can be reached at all angles, though once I caught my toe inbetween the pedal and can (ouch!). I like the fact that it's easily accessible for everyone and the lid keeps odors in. I'm extremely happy with this trash can! Well worth the money!
